Appointment setting in another city?

Hi everyone,

This may be a relly dumb question with an obvious answer - but, if we are cold-calling on the phone with the intention of just getting an appointment with the local business owner, it is best to have a face to face meeting.

This is ok if you are in the same city, but if I was prospecting a client many miles away then it is not practical to travel to all of those, so what is best to do instead? virtual meeting? or just conduct the appointment over the phone?

Just wondered what you experienced offliners did in this situation....

Thanks!

I try to do it over the phone and via the webcam as much as possible, and businesses owners seem to appreciate the fact that i am just a one man band and i can't travel all the time to meet them.... most of my clients i "meet" on skype with a webcam... easy to set up and easy to explain to your clients

    Thanks Dave,

That's kinda what I thought, thanks man.

Although it would be cool to get some advice from people doing this in the UK, as I am from the UK and I just think that local businesses in the UK (like plumbers, landscapers etc) are not that tech savvy and won't know how to do video conferencing over skype etc. I think it is different in the US, UK is a different market.

Anyone from the UK have experience with this?
