Trying to rebrand and Google Places is driving me crazy

Hey, I have been lurking on here for a few months and this is my first actual post.

We recently rebranded a business with a new name/logo/website. The entire transition was very smooth, 301 redirects, mass emails to notify current clients, etc.

The only major issue is that google places keeps on making a new listing with the old business name. It takes the reviews and apparently all citations with it.

Some steps I have taken to solve this are:
-Claim all pages
-Enhance only the page I want and wait for merge
-Notify google to delete duplicate listings
-Update the business name in major directories (this is still a bit incomplete)

Every time I edit the listing (they are all claimed) with in a week or two my listing will be lost from results and a new one with the old name will be back and have terrible positioning.

Is there a definitive solution to this? Does google require to change the legally registered business name?

Is there a reliable source to outsource this issue to? I see a lot of "dont pay until you're #1 in local"... Again pretty new to this forum..

Thanks

    Thanks
That is a really strange occurrence. I've edited Google places listings and haven't personally experienced things being reverted back. I'm going to do some research now and look into that.

Thanks! the business had been under the old name for 15 years, google doesn't seem to want to forget that.

My locksmith client had a similar thing happen to him. His business name, location and all reviews somehow "reverted" back in Google Places a few weeks ago and dropped down to the second page of the maps SERP. I contacted Google and got it sorted within a few days. This might be all you need, but it sounds like you have more than two Places listings that need to be corrected.

I don't want to self-promote, but If you'd like to send me an email with the business name and links to the Google Places listings I'd be happy to look into it for you. mike at somacore.com.

      Lol Mike -

It's like saying with all do respect, following it with something disrespectful

      or..

I mean this in the nicest way, followed by something mean ..

Instead of saying I don't mean to do this, then doing it, just get it over with.. and do it and not tell us you are going to do it.

Not mad at ya' just think it is funny.

BTW following your cold calling thread, fun stuff.

Yea I mean I did ask for sources of help. And thanks for the advice. I'm going to "contact google" (I have been under the impression this isn't so easy to do - google at gmail.com right? and I'll check out your services as well.
