Dream host is what I use now for TMF and I love it. Switched from host gator and have not had a single glitch in almost six months. I get a dedicated server for $99 bucks per month and great customer service! They are really cool.

I wont get any money for it, but tell them John Durham sent you, so they know Im spreading the love for them. Great company to work with!

Ps. Host gator is great too, but I have had smoother experience with Dream host, and plus they go way above and beyond the call of duty...they treat you as an individual and will not say "its our policy...". Their policy is to "give you whatever you want". Much more personal service.

I still use hostgator for some things... particularly because most web designers here that I outsource to are familiar with it, but my forum is too huge to deal with an impersonal company. Dream host is more personal and they take your business more seriously.

Thank you everyone! Appreciate your feedback!! I had seen many good reviews for hostgator but I am not familiar with them...and the cost is in US dollars instead of Can.

Hmm...interesting. I've always used Go Daddy for both my domain and hosting. I'm gonna check both Host Gator and Dream Gator out to see which one is more worth my time. Thanks for your invaluable info sharing as always!

Q: (please forgive me, Not trying to hijack the thread. I need help--quick!)

Guys, I'm looking to sell those custom picture blankets (throws) and the company I am considering wholesaling through will only give websites to those who spend $399 to $499 (deluxe system) but not to the $99 rep only.

Problem is even getting a website through them, the info doesn't automatically go to the company...all it does is *hold* the customer's input information in a folder, and the vendor still has to take the customer's downloaded pictures and then go to the company site and download or send hard copy through the mail!

I'd like only go the $99 rep route and create my own personalized site (to process customer's payments) that I still have to forward the wholesale portion and the customer's pics to the company). Who would you recommend? Host Gator, Dream Gator or someone else? Thanks in advance!

I have been with hostgator for a while now, and I was informed I may have a virus that got into my server via a wordpress site, I got on live chat with hostgator, and they resolved the issue within a few hours, removed all malicious files, and informed me of what happened.

Go with hostgator.

I'm from Canada as well and I have used Netfirms, Justhost, iDirect (old days) and I think just about every other option. The best by far has been hostgator. No issues so far with my account or my client's accounts.

You'll be happy with HostGator. For Canadian hosting that I'm familiar with, there's netfirms which you're already using, hostpapa and myhosting. Out of those three I'd say myhosting. But I don't think it really matters if you go with a USA host if you're in Canada.

You can use N.C. for hosting but Hostgator is a better way to go. Name Cheap is better known for thier Domains. Also it is safer to have separate Hosting & Domain companies.

I am with Hostgator for my hosting and am very happy with it. You can set up a wordpress blog in a few minutes (with Fantastico De Luxe) and it's very user friendly.

For my domains, I use Namecheap or Godaddy. I used to use Godaddy, then switched to namecheap, but when I buy a site on Flippa, they often require you to transfer it to Godaddy. They are both equally amazing.

Just to jump on the bandwagon - Hostgator hands down. Full 24 hour support - never had to wait anymore than 15 - 20 minutes max for them helping (you're in a queue) and they will take you by the hand until your site is set up. I didn't know anything about it when I started (DNS etc) and they stayed with me for an hour until it was all sorted. Excellent!

Definitely Hostgator... I've had friends who have tried GoDaddy and other hosting services, not one compares to Hostgator's awesome service and 99% uptime.

Hostgator is the best. I just love their support system. Whenever you are stuck they will be there almost everytime to help you. Furthermore now they have BK website builder that will give you what you actually mentioned in your post.

Ive never heard of netfirm, but from dealing with numerous other hosting providers. I suggest you save yourself the hassle and go with hostgator.

Please stay far away from netfirms i had horrible downtime. Hostgator are much better.

Netfirms and Hostgator are the same host now -- EIG.
So if one sucks, they both suck.
EIG has fooled you into thinking they were separate. Don't fall for that.

Based on my clients' feedbacks, most of the clients have some specific requirements. Somebody needs more disk space, others require their own PHP settings, etc.

If Netfirm was working for you, I would stay with them. Even though Hostgator is a web host with good reputation, it may happen you will need something what they do not offer.
