Website design, hosting and maintenance contract or agreement sample

Hello,

Does anyone feel up to sharing a copy of the agreement they get clients to sign for design, hosting and maintenance services?

I have reviewed the samples on Docstoc and other sites, but the contracts I am finding are written with a lot of "legalese". While I understand legal jargon is in place to protect all parties involved, I have read that many warriors are having success with simple one or two page agreements written in plain English. I can't find examples of these.

I have a meeting tomorrow with a client to review a demo I made for her business and I'd like to be prepared with an agreement for her to sign. I'd rather use something that has been battle-tested than potentially scare her off with some monstrosity that I try to create myself.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Greg

    Hi Greg,

I haven't looked through this site, but it comes highly recommended by an offline marketer, Ryan Shaw, whose list I am on. It's apparently free:

    Contract Resources

It might be worth checking out. I know also, that for paid resources, Maria Gudelis was selling a forms pack at one point. You might find it in the WSO section.

If I find the link, I'll tell you.

    OK Greg,

I found the link to Maria's packet on the forum. It is $97, and I haven't seen these for myself, but knowing her reputation, I'd say they could be a great bet if you need something asap and can't find anything else that seems to suit your needs. I checked and the link to buy is still live:

Maria Gudelis Legal Forms (Not an affiliate link)

    Hope this helps

    OK, Greg,

This link is from that first site recommended by Ryan Shaw:

Statement of Work / Scope of Work | Free Statement of Work / Scope of Work Forms | Entrepreneur.com

Unfortunately, to download it directly, you have to be a paying member. You can, however, view it on the site and make a version of your own.

Thank you very much Tracy for putting in all that legwork. You didn't have to go to all that trouble, but I appreciate it.

I'll chime in on the hosting aspect...there was a post here the other day about a user who had a dedicated server that did not have backups. This server had a rare multi-disk failure resulting in lost customer data. The best piece of advice I can give you is make sure you keep your own backups in addition to your hosts backups (if they offer them).

I agree with Kingfish85. Use a utility like Backup Buddy or WPTwin to keep copies of your client websites.

Good advice, however, I meant server side such as R1 CDP, rsync etc. And don't store your only copies of backups on the same server/storage they're being generated from.

Cool, thanks for the share guys. Been making one for my design also and it really is unoriginal if i just rely on copying the terms & conditions from one site to another. Now i just got some clues to create my own.
