My Cold Call Update 16/3/2012
http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...-40-calls.html
Here are todays stats :
Approx. 20 calls
-2 very interested follow up emails
-1 meeting booked for next week, said 'we need this done'
Just to note :
I tried using a variation mentioned by John Durham (probably spelt that wrong) that went something like : "Hi, I sell websites, wondering if you want more customers?" and got shut down pretty quickly.
I feel that the first 30 seconds are extremely important for a simple reason...you need to build investment of their attention.
Basically, a person feels more indebted to listen to you the longer you speak. If you talk in short bursts, with little information, they don't feel obligated to actually listen. They just make quick assumptions, they jump to conclusions and simply dismiss your call, because its an easier choice.
By being short and frank, you don't provide enough value to catch their interest. They simply think 'OK, useless telemarketing call, get rid of him' rather than 'wait, what did he say about that Google statistic? that sounds interesting...'
Give them some BAIT to nibble on, don't just show them the hook and expect them to jump on it. In my opinion, of course. Thanks for reading and feel free to ask any questions. I know my results aren't spectacular, afterall, I didn't get a sale over the phone or anything. But I feel my results are improving the better I get at this system of explanation.
