How do you guys get past the gatekeeper when doing followup calls? I'm following up on packets that I sent out last week. Do you say something along the lines of;

"Hello, my name is XXX, I sent a report to Dr. XXX about a week ago. May I please speak with him about it?"

I'm not sure, Ideas would be fantastic!

Regards,

Mitch

    How did you send them out. Was there any contact initially or was this cold emailing or direct mail?

    Hi, Im ______, just following up on a package I sent out last week (or that he had "requested...) .... He's expecting my call... (tell them you are going to call in the mailout). It all has to work together like David points out. What I call "synergistically".

      I'd go with this as well. Just tell the gatekeeper that your main prospect is expecting your call.

          If you get advice from John Durham, my advice would be just take it.

          Most things are pretty simple and we have a tendency to overthink even the smallest of things. It's natural and normal, especially when we're new to dealing with businesses in the real world.

          But boiling this all down, you sent an email with a bit of information and told the recipient you would call. Now you're just doing what you said you would. Calling them.

          That means the first thing they know about you is that you're a man of your word.

          That's not a bad way to start a relationship.

            And please, when you get the prospect on the phone, do not ask "Did you get my e-mail/package/mailer?" It makes it too easy for him to say "No," at that point and wreck your plan.

            In fact, don't start with any Yes or No question. Just greet him and start your pitch.
