Directories Going Downhill?

Anybody noticed recently that their directories they use for local citations have gone downhill? Seems like a big chunk of my list is now either paid, asking for a link, or spamming my clients with sales calls. Have gone out to find more only to find more of the same.

Curious if this is a problem for anyone else and if you are finding alternate sources for citations. Of course there are geotagged photos, videos, press releases, etc. Anything else you guys are using?

I would like to know which citations you are referring to.

A lot have paid options, but that doesn't mean you have to go with the paid option.

As far as them calling, you can't get mad at them for trying.
To them, the business has show an interest in using their company.
You would call a business that showed interest in your company.... Right?

And that is good marketing. Your clients are getting a free entry that helps them get a better ranking. I'm sure that if you explain that to your client they will understand and if you advise them they may get some calls they won't get upset.

Take good care of those that you love.
