Some Will...Some Wont...SO What

I thought I would post this here to hopefully help some of you who are struggling to rent your sites and are perhaps staggered why someone will not rent it off you.

I got this response the other day from a person I emailed. I wasnt asking this person to rent the site, I simply wanted them to accept some free leads until I did rent it.

Here is the response I got.

====================
Hi Craig,

I've had a look at your website and unfortunately there are a few elements of it that do not meet our business model and therefore have to decline your invitation on this occasion.

Otherwise you've done a really nice job of it and I wish you luck with finding a plumbing company to rent the site from you.

Kind regards,

====================

So, after I went outside and kicked the cat I asked myself why wouldn't they want it. So I sat and analysed it and a few things hit me.

1. It mentions 24/7 service which not everyone does.
2. It mentions proper accreditation with the proper state authorities.
3. It says we will contact you within 24 hours of emailing

How they operate their business is none of my business but I can see that perhaps this site, and more importantly, your site does not meet the business m odel of most. Usually I make my sites fairly generic but I think I got too specific on this one.

Moral of the story is: Take another look at your site and ask yourself: Would this site suit most tradesman? See how you go and remember, some will, some wont...so what...move on

    I appreciate the post!

    Any chance you could ask the biz what elements were making them pass on getting the leads?

    You need to go back to this prospect and find out:

    1) is this response a plea for you to change those elements that aren't a fit for them, so they can rent the site from you

    or

    2) a BS put-off to make you feel better without having to be rude (in their eyes) and tell you a direct No.

    Because if it is #1, you can easily change the text, right? And all it takes is a simple conversation to find out exactly what IS wrong with the site for your prospect...and a few minutes to fix it. I'm presuming you emailed them for a response after Shay's question, and that was a mistake on your part if so: you should have called them. It is easy to ignore a wussy email.

    Remember, your prospects lack the technical knowledge you have. They may think that it's difficult or impossible to change anything about your site--colors, content, pictures.

    Here again, people, is Why You Go Over Your Demo Site With Them LIVE ON THE PHONE.

    You sent the link over blind and waited for their response, didn't you.

    Anything other than them telling you what needs to be fixed and then renting the site off you once these elements are corrected is proof that their initial reply here is NOT the real issue.

    About your original offer, to give them some free leads until you were able to rent the site...it appears your prospect missed it.

      If you aren't doing this already, use joinme.com so they can see your screen. then you control the situation and you get their live feedback. You can show them the site, the serp results page showing where it ranks, google keyword tool for the number of searches each month, etc.

        Jason Kanigan has hit this one out of the park. Do what he says and get on the phone with your prospect and make a deal with him. His reply makes it obvious that he evaluated your proposal and was looking for something in particular.

        It's just dumb luck that your e-mail got past his spam filter and a busy pro read it. The odds against someone like that taking the time to indicate that you just missed with him are truly astronomical. This is like a special dispensation from God. Take advantage of it.

        If you're going to depend on spam e-mail and dumb luck to build a business, you'd better call this guy. You will need his business badly. Offer him the leads again, and maybe he'll tell you what kind of leads he actually wants to buy.

    To each his own, guys. Craig has found success in his own way. He is not here asking for your opinion on how he should run his business.
