Hi guys

Have or do any of you offer the above service? "Mr client you only pay me when i get your site on 1st page google for your keywords".

Anyone got any experience of this? If so do you find it easier to hook in new clients?

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave - I have not done this, so I can't answer your question directly. BUt I can tell you that I won't do this. G is way too fickle. I make a big deal out of not holding any clients to a long term contract. I know some guys who have money back guarantees, but that is only for low end local SEO - like $200/month - so exposure is limited.

Also - this assumes you are only providing SEO. I tried a few years ago to start an SEO business. Now SEO makes up about 35% of what I actually do. Mostly out of necessity - clients NEED stuff we know about. Even though all my clients get SEO, it only represents about 1/3 of my revenue.

I guess you could still offer other services (if you wanted) and only do SEO on a contingent basis...

      Thanks Bredfan

Food for thought, Just trying to get a leg up on the competition.... It would only be local seo i would be targeting.

I'm finding too many small business owners just haven't been given results promised... and it makes my job harder... grrrr

      Thanks again,

      Dave

I have seen a few marketers on here that have done it successfully. One had a WSO on it around this time last summer. The premise of it was that they would not have to pay a dime if they did not reach the first page of google. Once they hit number 10 they were going to have to pay.

I could see it working for people here. The reason that I never tried to do it was that I really am not that good with SEO so I outsource all of it. I couldnt afford to pay an seo guy just in case they did not pay me, but the no lose situation should really help get some clients for those that do know how to do their own SEO.

I'm starting to see more performance based guarantees. But if you read carefully, it's nothing new or different than what we're all doing. Where the real guarantee is delivered is with PPC.

I too saw a wso a couple of years ago that was based on the model you describe. I advertised it but had little interest. You have to qualify the business/site (basically one you can rank within a short period of time). As soon as it hits page 1 you start the count down. After it's on page 1 for X days (you determine), payment is due. Use a contract. This model was $2,400 per year and included monthly seo to keep the site on p 1.

I know this is being done because I saw a post a while back from someone who's actually doing it. I have tried to find that post but I cannot. However, I did save the URL of his website because I thought it was an interesting idea. So here it is mikeshreeve.c0m/pricing.html ...replace the 0 with an o

Let me add that you might want to ensure that the keyword phrases you attempt to rank for actually have enough searches (use PPC) being made because you will likely not have a happy customer that has paid a lot of money only to get very little traffic.

It can work however your going to need funds/time to make it happen before the client's pa you. Then you have to get the client's to pay you. Nothing is worse then ranking a client's site then they don't get any calls and don't want to pay because their lame website made by a high school kid is not converting.

Get it down in a contract that business or no business they are paying you for the results of being on page one and not for bringing in more business.

Also charge them like 3x your normal price. Or charge them a percentage of their business plus fees. Your going to notice most result type businesses are just tire kickers/people who don't have the money to pay anyways. I have come across a few that were legitimate and I have made good money from. These are the types that you can setup lead gen sites and sell leads to.
