Stop the Cold Calling and Work Smarter

Over the last several months we have closed any deals and never cold called one business though once I got used to cold calling I actually found I quite liked it.

This was mainly because I was never going to sell them anything. I simply learnt to promote my business and that resulted in sales but that's another story.

A huge proportion of our work now comes for marketing and advertising agencies.

We approached a bunch last year doing a JV with them to produce mobile and desktop sites for their clients or refurbishing old ones.

They are happy because they have a new income stream, their customers are happy because they have better performing websites and we are happy because our client list has grown.

We have suggested this before re printers and other businesses with good lists and this is just another format that is working well.

    Quentin,

    You have given me a great idea. My local hosting company does huge website developments for clients and does not have time for the smaller sites.

    I am going to call him and ask him to refer his smaller leads to me. This should work because I have sent him several new hosting clients over the last few months.

      Maybe so, Dave. But Quentin is a stand up guy and truly helps
      those who are looking to get into building mobile websites.

      His, and WillR's WSO on building mobile sites, to me are the 'gold standard'.

      So anything he might be 'hawking' signature-wise, to me deserves a 'look-see'.

        @mak25 - I don't disagree with you, but it's a rather tantalizing post.

        Unless I'm missing something, it's not unlike saying you make a delicious pasta carbonara.

      I don't know what your issue is with me. It seems I can't make a statement without you making some comment related to how much you hate sales and cold calling.

      If you have something to get off your chest, simply let me know in private. Perhaps we have more in common than you may think. Perhaps not. I have no way to know.

      I have never forced what I do upon anyone. When it comes up, when people want advice about selling, I give my advice. I have NEVER said cold calling is the ONLY way to do business and I have NEVER insulted you.
