Coupon marketing without coupons

Let's say you're doing some kind of marketing services for a local sandwich shop and they want to perk up their slowest day....say Tuesday.

Using whatever is set-up....email list, SMS list, Facebook friends,Twitter followers.....whatever....

Just use passwords.
Example: this Tuesday the password is: Joe sent me........and they get half price on a cheesesteak

Send a message that customers who stop in on Tuesday and say "Joe sent me" at the register will get half off the price of a cheesesteak.

Don't need any coupon website or mobile site to promote specific deals.

Sounds good to me. Maybe give a free drink if they signup for the list in the first place.

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

It's a good idea, but another great word of mouth type advertising method is one that a local burger joint in my area does.

What they do is on Monday they have a fish bowl filled with pieces of paper that each offer a different discount amount from 10% off to 50% off and x-amount that offer free meal.

So when the customer goes to pay the bill the cashier asks them to go fish and pick a piece of paper to see how much they are going to save off their bill.

This has worked very well for the resturant, because everyone tells their freinds and family about it, as it's different and who dosn't like to save money.

I just thought I would share this little idea, as it might spark some other creative ideas or ways to bring in customers to other types of businesses.

      All the best,

      Martin

    Jerry,

The biggest problem with that is: Unless the owner is working at the register they can get ripped off very easily! The person rings up everything at half price and when someone pays full price they put part in their pocket. They may not even take any money but discount every customer on their slowest day anyways... OUCH

    Jerry,

    Forget Coupon advertising.

Think of another and more EFFECTIVE type of advertising.

Can you guess what that might be?

    It's OK, I'll tell ya,

    It is Gift Certificates~!

However, you need to know how to use these effectively in order to use them to your businesses advantage!

Trust, me, this type of Gift Certificate method is NOT the type that businesses use where you can purchase everywhere and everywhere!

It is totally unique and, most importantly, EXCLUSIVE!

So, with that said, I would suggest you that you use this type of method, rather than the Coupon method!

Just my 2 cents worth here!

    Onwards and Upwards,

        AnneHouse,

You are one of the very few lucky people that I sent this information to.

Obviously, you didn't go through all the information that I painstakingly found, studied, implemented and sent to you. (Oh Um, at least I tried!)

        For others wondering here,

ANY business can offer a gift certificate. The secret is the method in which it is delivered --- which by the way --- you don't need to do it yourself. It's very easy to set up and to have others do this for you --- yet everyone wins.

The best part is that, this is not your typical gift certificate offering. Your clients (potential clients) don't pay a dime for it (so, zero money upfront, zero money risk)!

It's a very simple method that can work for ANY business!

I'm sorry, but that's all I'm going to say about this right now! And NO! This will NEVER become a WSO! Why? Because WSOs are way too much high maintenance for my liking!

Whats the point of teasing everyone. If you have something that can help why dont you just tell us what it is.

If you didnt want anyone to know about why bring it up?

            With all due respect, Eddie,

That's ALL I've done since I've been here (4.5 years now) -- researching OTHER peoples' quest for knowledge and pointing them in the right direction on where, how to find it.

Not once, have I asked a question on how to do anything!

I was giving YOU (others here) something to think about (not for me to, once again, provide information on how to) but to seek out the information FOR YOURSELF!

Besides, a woman needs to keep some secrets ya know (besides, that's our privilege)!:p

            JMB

P.S. In addition, I've been around here long enough to do a bit of teasing now!

      Hi Eddie,

See, that's the part I've had trouble with too.

No one really gives you the keywords. You need to spend hours by using the various combinations to hopefully find what you're looking for.

The pay off comes, where you'll come across cool stuff that you never even thought of.

      That's been my experience anyway!

With that said, I wouldn't trade all the hours, days, months and years that it took me to finally find what I've found and everything in between that I've found.

      Cheers,

      JMB

P.S. I'll give you two hints:

      1. Gift Certificate Marketing and;
      2. Joint Ventures

Well, I'm going to throw in what I can remember from a couple of years back. Some of the keywords if you wanted to find the actual thread that I read back then would be:

      high end restaurant
      spa/beauty salon
      interior designer/decorator
      gift certificate
      preferred customers
      $1,000 a day

all of these keywords are not an exact match but close enough to possibly find it again, lol. At the time I thought it was an excellent idea but realized it was far too long ago since I lived in a civilized area with high end restaurants and fancy spas, lol. It simply was not an environment I cared for any more (how things change...).

Anyway, before the suspense kills you, the idea was to sell 1,000 gift certificates for $1 each. 500 would be bought by the restaurant and the other 500 by the spa. Or any other 2 businesses that had a high end clientele.

The gift certificate was for a consultation with an Interior Designer at a $225 face value, the equalent of some 1 1/2 hours worth of time. The designer had to agree to pay for the cost of print/design/ship and the person selling the cards collected that amount upfront.

These gift certificates where supposed to be delivered in fancy envelopes to preferred customers only of the restaurant and spa.

That was a way for the restaurant and the spa to build stronger loyalty with their customers.

From what I remember, the person selling this, had to find 1 restaurant, 1 spa and 1 decorator daily to make the $1,000 a day and the person said they did.

True or not, that's another twist on the subject of "gift certificates" but JMB's version is probably different,

      Eva
