-- How To Provide This Type of Content --

Hey Warriors,

I have a bit of a dilemma, I'm going to be creating an authority site in a particular niche, and I don't know how to go about providing the content.

Here is an example not my niche, Mountain Climbing Knots.

If you were going to be providing downloadable PDF's for example on each of the different climbing knots, is it best to;

  • Actually take photos of different steps whilst I'm doing the climbing knots myself. ( But kind of not all that helpful, and takes time.)
  • If you had a book showing illustrations of the different steps, would you be allowed to use the illustrations, and provide your own descriptions? Or is this not a good idea.
  • I would draw the illustrations, but unfortunatley I am pathetic at drawing aha

Obviously videos are going to best but I want this to be downloadable content that I can produce fast.

Any ideas on what you think is best? Thanks guys.

How about a downloadable PDF with instructions, and embedded links to YouTube videos for visual assistance?

i think you answered your own question.
      Forget the "fast" part....

Start making them and each time one is done, get it posted....along with "More to come...."

And don't forget to brand them and get them up on Youtube.

      Good luck

That is a great idea, I was kind of hoping for it to come through as my own work though so the site would be seen as more of an authority figure in my niche, rather than sending traffic away from site rather than back to it for repeat visits.

Of course if they were my own that would be fine, I guess you send the traffic from the PDF to my own youtube channel or something.

Yer your right, but to be honest I'm not looking for the fast lane, I'm just looking for the most productive route.

And to be honest I'm all that sure how to even make youtube videos, but having my own channel would probably help to brand the site.

You could embed the videos into your own site pages, link the PDF back to YOUR page with the embedded video. That way, you're keeping the traffic, and you can provide other content wrapped around the videos.

Also, you can use other peoples videos to start with, and replace them with your own at a later date and still keep the same URL within the PDF.

So would you make the traffic first visit the PDF page, then have the PDF provide a link, for people who would like a more visual over the shoulder representation which would the direct that traffic to another page with the embedded video?

And by other content, are your referring to related posts kind of situation to keep them on the site for longer yer.

Sounds about right. Obviously it depends on what you want. Your original post suggested you wanted downloadable content, so yes, get your visitors to download the PDF, and have links in there for videos which bring them back to your site.

Depending on how you want your content distributed, you could submit your PDF to the main doc share sites too, which will develop the embedded video links back to your site again.

There are crochet and knitting patterns on Etsy.com that have picture by picture instructions. They are downloaded PDFs and its work wonderfully for readers.

If you can't draw to illustrate yourself don't forget to use www.fiverr.com ..... an awesome site where you can send someone the pics you found and let them redraw those pictures. I just used that site for the first time and now I'm addicted... lol

Thanks for your tips man you've been an excellent help, didn't even think about document sharing sites.

Have you personally used a fiverr gig that you could recommend, that place kind of seems a little dodgy, but I guess I could always try one.
