Title says it all really. What's your USUAL hosting Reseller Package Sizes for corporate customers, with small WordPress sites?

You know, mom and pop shops, small business?

When you say "Reseller Package Sizes" are you talking about the pricing or how much space/bandwidth?

      Hi Z,

      That's space/bandwidth, sorry if I didn't explain myself correctly.

It depends what it includes. For example, our standard reseller package is 10GB/100GB, but it includes 2 forms of backups, CloudFlare, LiteSpeed, JotForm and some other features.

The quality of service ultimately will outweigh the specs.

Is this the answer you're looking for?

**however, our reseller plans are not for people to try and be the next web hosting company. They are focused towards web developers & designers**

    Thanks King,

My question is directed of what kind of space/bandwidth a guy should divide that package into.

    Example: 200mb space/ 1000mb bandwidth.

I honestly don't know whats a "usual" number for small mom and pop websites.

I would assess the usage stats at first, then go from there. If your host allows overselling, then your plan will be based off of resources used, not allocated. We allow overselling, but strictly monitored. (only to go by resources used vs allocated)

That spec should work fine in most cases, but you will need to monitor it. Are you actually reselling hosting, or do you just use a reseller service more for organization?

        The latter.

Been checking some of our hosting accounts and just saw clients sites using (MONTHLY) 100mb bandwidth and others with 1.4GB. Checked their site's bandwidth.

Guess I'll have to create a package with 500mb space and 5GB bandwidth, since just bought a HG plan with these specs:

        Disk Space: 50 GB
        Bandwidth: 500 GB

That makes it available for 100 clients, right? 500mb Space for each one, and 5GB bandwidth for each one.

        My math is awful. lol

I personally have found that it is based on your market and how you position yourself.

Our company doesn't really ever get into the specs of space that we are providing (because the client doesn't care). We position ourselves as trustable experts and have a baseline package that just tends to work for our customers.

If we had a customer using an excessive amount of resources we would basically inform them of what's going on - congratulate them on getting so much traffic and tell them that in order to handle that level of traffic they'd need to step up to a higher package.

Our pricing is setup that we almost never have to worry about the resources being used though - so we haven't had to deal with that kind of issue yet.

My suggestion would be to put together what the client needs and worry less about bits and bytes when talking to them - say things like "Your site will have plenty of resources for starting out - but as you start to get more visitors, you may need to step up to a plan that can handle the traffic load you are getting"

ehh, I like HG as a company, but the quality of their environments have steadily been going downhill.

The problem you're going to run into with HG, is that they don't allow overselling. Now, don't take that as me saying sell 100GB disk space and ridiculous amounts of BW. The reason we allow overselling is so that you can actually get what you pay for.

You will most likely end up hitting the cap on their plan with the bandwidth. When we first got into web hosting (under another company, locally based) we used a HG reseller plan. It was probably the biggest mistake we made. We never came close to the disk space limit, in fact we only had roughly 10GB of space actually used. We hit the allocated limits and were forced to upgrade or find another provider. When you hit that cap, you won't be able to do anything...not even change plan sizes.

After that, we decided it was time to put our big boy pants on and start running our own environment. About a year after that we chose to open VopaHost.

One thing I despise about HG is the fact that they charge 15 bucks to provide you with a backup, and they only do a weekly backup at that.

This was a few years ago, so I'm not sure what their environment is like now. My advice though, if you want optimal performance & personal support, find a smaller provider.

I host a lot of my Micro Niche websites on my reseller account as well as a few of my clients and 200mb is usually plenty of space. If a site is getting close to reaching this limit you will get an email and you can just adjust accordingly. So for mom and pops sites I would go with 200mb. Hope that helps.
