Sales Help - Suggestions?

Hey,

So I had a client find me about a month ago who has a static site that he needs updates once every two months. Basically an online catalogue, just adding products into the tables, simple stuff.

So when I was there talking to him he mentioned a new business venture he wanted to do and needed a ecommerce site. We discussed it and I gave him the rough cost, and that was that. (This was before I was on the forum. After knowing what I know now I would have offered him a discount or value added service and tried to close ASAP, but I didn't). He basically said ok well I will look into this for the future

So now I want to call him to see if I can get that project started. I am not scheduled to update his site again till the end of the month (3 weeks). I wonder if it's better to wait till then so it sounds more natural, or should I just call him now and try and make a deal?

Any tips help?

Thanks!

  • I'd suggest calling him TODAY......

One day to the next and someone else could get the order.

  • Call and ask him.
You might lead off with asking if he's had any thoughts on design/layout, if he's check out competitors to find what he likes and doesn't about their sites.

Besides just hitting him up for money show him that you are there for him and are interested in his concerns and success.

  • Call him and don't take no for an answer

    • I was just speaking with one of my clients about their ecommerce site.

They're pretty excited about how well it's going and how the conversion has improved since I had tightened the screw on their modem and changed the oil filter on the server.

I got to thinking that this might be something that we could implement for your ecommerce project. If you've got a few minutes later in the week I can stop in and go over some of my notes with you.

You may want to be a little more technically accurate, but things like this do work.

  • hah I love it!

I called the guy and he said he needs to speak to his product supplier before he gets started on the Ecommerce portion. I feel good about it though. So will be getting back to him at the end of the month hopefully to move forward.

    Thanks for the help guys!
