Last Tuesday , I put up 5 bandit/yard signs. 3 were yanked up the first night. 2 are still out. I have received 2 calls so far. 1 call from an insurance agency. The other from the city. I met with the insurance agent Friday. I am meeting with him again Monday afternoon to hopefully get this contract started. I purchased the signs for $4/each at Home Depot. I know people have mixed reviews regarding bandit signs but they do work. Bottom line, take action because companies need our services!

  • Were the signs for your IM services?
  • Good action what did the signs say?
  • Yes, they were. The one that got the appointment was by a poll with our signs on the road behind Starbucks!
  • Google Places
    Page 1 Guaranteed
    Google Voice number

Never say CONTRACT THAT HURTS MY EYES!!! SAY AGREEMENT OR PAPERWORK ESPECIALLY WHEN DEALING WITH CLIENTS!
  • Did you hand write on these signs? If so you're response rate will be much less then with professionally printed signs. My friend owns banditsigns.com and he has some good free audios on how to effectively use Bandit Signs to market your business. I think you can come up with a better message for your signs. Most businesses probably don't even know what Google Places is. Speak to the benefits, not the features.

    • What makes you think this? It may be true for some fields. I know it is not true for 5 day home auctions, house rentals, and a few other things.

  • I only pay about $1 per sign from this site: Endura Cor-Plastic Sign Blanks - 24 inch x 18 inch - Yellow - Sign Supplies and Equipment

Been using them for years. Blank Yellow, 24x18 signs with handwritten copy from a HUGE BLACK SHARPIE marker.

    I agree, they work great.

    • Bandit/Road Signs work! Your niche determines
      how well they work.

Handwritten signs work well in certain markets
and not so well in other markets.

The only way you'll know how well they work
for you - is to test, test, test.

      Much success,
      Frank
    • Joe,

Thanks for sharing the sign blanks link.

I'm getting ready to roll out some bandit signs in my area, so
your source is a great help to me.

      All the best,

      Martin

  • What did the city say?
  • 5 signs really isn't enough. If you go to banditsigns.com they offer some free audio's on how to effectively use bandit signs. Its best to put about 25-30 signs in 1 particular area or neighborhood. Rotate each week between 2-3 neighborhoods and put them in high traffic areas. If you want any other info feel free to PM me.

    • Great work! I too want to know what the city said when they called you.
  • I think handwritten bandit signs work well when it comes to real estate.

Anyone else that uses bandit signs....what niche's do you use them in?
  • Hey, I'm actually quite experienced in this as I used to be a Bird Dog for Real Estate. Unfortunately that Bird Dogging method does not work in my city any more as prices have sky rocketed (ie: Average home is $1,000,000. And we're talking homes built in the 1970's. Vancouver, British Columbia. The most expensive city to live in in North America.)

Bandit signs do work, and when implemented properly, you can have some serious conversions with them. I'm actually working on a WSO, my first WSO, actually, about how I used my offline marketing techniques to bring in some success in online.

I don't want to give away all my secrets just yet, but I can give you some tips for sure.

Tip #1. Because Bandit signs are technically illegal, you should use necessary precautions to avoid being tracked back. Other than using pre-paid cellphones and other methods for phones etc, there is actually a TIME FRAME in which you can set these signs up. Here is my tip: put your signs up Friday nights, and take them out Sunday nights. The "Sign Police" are regular citizens too, they enjoy their weekends just as much as we do. Putting them up specifically for weekends also makes sense because people will generally not be in a hurry to go anywhere. Which is great because this ensures that people will actually pay attention to that sign sticking out of the side of the road.

Tip #2. Hand write your sign, no matter what Niche. Reason? Well, it is a proven fact actually that people will tend to more likely read a sign that was hand written then a sign that is printed. However, I do understand that if you want to stay professional, printing the signs will keep your professional standing.

Tip #3. Yes, your signs will get stolen or as you put it, "yanked" out sometimes. Usually by competitors, regular people (unless they're feeling like a jerk that day) will not take away your signs. Other than using oil, grease, bleach, and other methods that may make that person unhappy, although I do believe they should be unhappy if they're destroying my signs, there is a way to keep your signs up forever. There are many local corner stores that you can put to use, and even corner home lawns. To keep this short, usually it's only about $5, $2 for home owners to get your sign up for a few days.

    Hope this helps.

  • Sorry, one last note. Never leave your signs out for longer than 3 days, otherwise your just asking for that $173 ticket from the city. Or however much it is for you. I heard it's even more annoying in the States...
  • I think it's part of being an entrepreneur that we are constantly trying to think of ways to get peoples attention to our offer but I have to ask, should we really cross the line of legality just to get a cheep ad in front of people as they drive around? I see those sign all the time and my thoughts are that they are someone desperate for work. Kind of like the homeless guy sitting by the freeway exit with a cardboard sign. It just doesn't seem very professional to me and it is illegal in many cities. Also, I know many people don't like the signs because they are an eye soar. Too many legitimate ways to get your message out.

    Just my 2 cents

    • What you have said is very true. However, in my opinion of course, there are some niches where sometimes a Bandit Sign is one of the only ways to get the certain type of buyers that you want. For example, if you wanted to target an older generation who are not computer savvy, Bandit Signs would be one method to reach them.
  • Kind of expensive but,,,,,

    Can't you rent a U-Haul for $19.95 anymore?

Cover it with your GIANT ADVERTISING cruise around during rush hour or,
park it at a strategic corner or parking lot also during rush hour traffic.

Buy a truck driver a pizza and he'll be glad to drive around all day with your advertising on his tail end. They do not care and 99% of the time their supervisors are 300 miles away.
  • Fines are worth it every time if the money is right. In NYC UPS and Fedex budget for trafic tickets cause the money is better just to get the ticket.

Uhaul Truck would work but the pizza driver idea is brilliant.
  • Along the lines of most businesses not knowing what Google+ Local (Or whatever the hell they decide to call it next month) is... something like "More website traffic...guaranteed" might work better. If your selling adwords management, which is just my guess.
