Business Card Idea???

So, I just read a self promotion thread that was supposed to be about the effectiveness of business cards.
Between reading the title, and a piece of mail I got today, it sparked an idea.

What is the purpose of the business card?
To get someone to contact you, right?

So here is my idea.
Have the business card go the opposite way of traditional cards.
Vertical instead of horizontal.

Now, have a headline that says something like:
"Stop Wasting Your Marketing Dollars"
I show you how you should be spending them so they are effective.

Call Me @ 555-555-5555

Sweet right.....
Okay, now to combine the direct mail piece.
Staple a small bag of shredded money to the back of the business card.
(Just go to Ebay or Amazon and search shredded money)

Now you have a bulky, business card, with a clear call to action.
Plus, you have gotten their attention, and separated yourself.

It won't fit in the Rolodex, because it doesn't belong in the Rolodex.
It belongs on their desk, so they can call you.

An additional thought.... Under the bag of shredded money, have it say something like.... "I got your attention, and can help you get the attention of your future customers."

I am not a copywriter, just throwing an idea out there.

With all due respect, but, I would say that you're THROWING MONEY AWAY with this idea.

I know, I know, it's been said to do this. And that this method is effective -- I've read threads on this already. However, there is a much, much more effective way to get your message across, WITHOUT you having to throw good money after "bad" -- or shall I say "roll the dice"!

Just my 2 cents worth here -- hey, you asked for feedback!

    Cheers,

    JMB

P.S. I would post the RIGHT method, but I don't have copyrights to it. Sorry! And, no, it's not that 4-page letter -- the thread that was started by Ewenmack -- It's a totally different letter and/or method!

P.S.S. Damn, it drives me crazy that I could get in trouble for posting incredible and awesome information for others here, in order to help ya all! But, hey that's why I LOVE this forum. The rules are in place for a reason. Besides, they try to keep everyone in check and honest! Can you imagine would would happen if anyone could post ANYTHING they liked or wanted? Oooooh crap, don't want to think about those possibilities!

    Just do it anyway.

Put some compelling supporting material in that envelope too.

I like Vertical cards but marketing with them might not be a great idea. Have you tried money business cards? They are so fun... and effective.. maybe you should try those kind of cards instead?

A card out is a card out, whether its horizontal or vertical, with shredded money or not. At least the card is OUT and better than NO CARD at all. Just go for it, keep at it and you will get results.

Some methods are better than other but the bottom line is, TAKE ACTION, rinse and repeat!

        vndnbrgj,

        In part, you said:

"Staple a small bag of shredded money to the back of the business card."

This idea has been around in other sales ideas but I like it. I like it so much I found the source, ready made I might add, to get it by the bags. 5 lb bags to be exact and for only $45 per bag the US Dept of Treasury will sell them to you.

        Their address is:

5lb Bag of Shredded U.S. Currency

It is the Bureau of Engraving and Printing's (BEP) online store. How do you like their cute web address?

I don't know this for sure but I'm wondering if you are out and about cold calling and you walk into a biz with a plastic baggies full of shredded dollars and say something like,

If you don't hire me, here is what you are doing with your marketing dollars.

That's off the top of my head so refine it if you use it.

        Good luck.
