Increase the reach on a google places listing

How does one increase the reach on a google places listing. currently my listing is 1 for Property Management Lorain. But it is the next city over where there are no optimized listings or even an applicable listing showing up for the same phrase (property management elyria) it does not show up?

Yet I have had listings that showed up easily on a 50 mile radious. Any ideas what effects this anyone?

    Just an idea! Try adding another location to your GP listing for Elyria even if you have to rent a business mailbox there.

    What I am about to suggest will not get you additional google map pointers but will help your visibility in search engines under related area keywords. You may include in your G Place description names of surrounding areas, like "we serve... blah blah areas" Also you can try to create articles on your website with names of the areas you would like to include, YouTube vids with area keywords, images and add these to your G Place description. When creating citations for your business on other sites in the description also include areas you want to be visible.
    If you add another mail box you will create a separate G Place listing which is good but I think their policy clearly states one business physical location per single listing. So, this probably would have to be a different phone number and it better be with your local area code, not 800 number.
