Reputation Mangagement scripts

Hi again,

Just wondered if anyone had any good reputation management scripts - direct mail and phone to sell this type of service.

I would like to know what hot buttons to push and how to make it flow.

Cheers!
Steve.

I would start the conversation by saying that you were looking up _____ (insert business here) and saw they had horrible reviews on ______ (insert site here). Let them know that that was a bit off putting and you were wondering if there was any validity to that.

People are often very defensive about their business, but I think that starting a conversation is the right way to go. Don't make them think that you were looking to hire them, but saying you were doing a general search and found that.

If they don't already have bad stuff out there, but rather good stuff, you can approach it from the perspective of... I was looking up _____ (insert business) and saw that you had some amazing reviews on _____ (insert site). That intrigued me, but I was curious as to whether you've ever had anyone who was dissatisfied with your business. Then ask them how they would feel if their business was "tainted" by that one review....

If they don't have anything there, you can call them and ask them if they have any testimonials. Let them know you didn't see anything online and was curious. Then hit them with the reality that people normally don't say anything unless they have something negative to say. Ask them how much their good reputation is worth...

The idea is to start a conversation and make it about them and their feelings...not what you think...

I won't give out my script, but just think about it this way: If you can help them realize how much their reputation is hurting them, and how you can improve their reputation and boost sales, you've got the sale.

That being said, it's easier said than done.

Do you get most of your clients from cold calling, emailing or direct mail?

Most of my clients come from direct mail, followed up by a cold call. Though I do a lot of local work so for some of the places I know the owner or have at least seen him while being a customer of the business. Then I am able to go in and have a friendly conversation saying things from a "friend" standpoint and not a salesman standpoint.

        Example

*After paying for work done on my car*

ME: "Hey Jim, I've always been really appreciative of the great work you've done on my car. You're always treating me fairly, you have fair prices, with exceptional customer service."

        JIM: "Well thanks!"

ME: "I was looking online and I noticed you don't have very good reviews... *pause* I actually do a lot of work online and I help businesses (like yours) improve their online reputation. Did you know... (insert facts about reputation here)...

JIM: "Would you be willing to do that for me?! How much?"

ME: "I usually charge $497 a month with a $600 startup cost, but since I come here often I can do it for you for $297/month and I'll waive the startup cost."

        JIM: *Hands you the check*

Remember that this is all about unblocking a steady stream of qualified inbound leads.

If you remove those barriers, ie. even ONE bad review stops people from looking any further at that option, and they move on to the next, then you bring the flow to your client.

    What's that worth to them?
