Local Business Lead Gen Strategies

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to try and create a thread that would hopefully contain the ultimate list of strategies/ways to generate leads online for local businesses.

The obvious ones I can think of so far are:

1.) SEO for their website (traffic from Google searches)
2.) Classified ads (traffic from both Google and internal ad-site traffic)
3.) YouTube videos (traffic from both Google and internal youtube traffic)

Anyone know of any more that are effective?

Thanks!
Steve.

3.) YouTube videos (traffic from both Google and internal youtube traffic)
4.) PPC for their website (traffic from Google searches)

      Any others?

Depending on the business, Kijiji campaigns , prime spots on kijiji advertising, adds for their business. Also Craigslist, and any popular ad site that is similar if you want to put the time in.

When is a lead not a lead? That is the question. How many times have you gone off on a tangent speaking to someone that really is not in the market for what you have to offer? A few I would suspect. The reason I know this is because this used to be a big problem of mine. Not all leads are created equal. Think about what you have to offer and who your ideal client might be. Then take action. When you get clear like this you become laser focused and as a result will have more success.

If your widget or premium service costs more. Hanging around StartUp companies is unlikely to bring in fast results. Yes they may know somebody they can refer you to and yet we both know that is unlikely to happen. Instead go to the premium priced places where your target market is more likely to hang out.
