Verified Or Unverified Google Places: What Works Best For you?

Hi all,

The vast majority of Google Place pages seem to have been claimed but hardly any have been optimised correctly.

Does anyone have any experience of optimising a page that has already been claimed and verified?

Or is it a total pain and are we better off approaching businesses with unclaimed Place pages and starting from scratch?

It just seems to me that if someone has already claimed their page they are at least aware of the potential that a Places page offers.

All opinions welcomed

Cheers,

Steve.

You can optimize claimed ones pretty easy. Just get their access and you're good to go.

Basically if the business you are looking at have verified their places page but are not ranking. Just contact them. What i do is send them a short video recording my computer screen let them know the amount of traffic they could be generating if they were on page 1. Great way to get them to open email is make sure you take a screen shot of their website and make the picture click to your video. They cannot resist clicking their own website just to see where it goes.

Dewar, great idea. Using an image of their website to engage them in your pitch is brilliant! Could you just have it link to a youtube video or have you been just sending it as a file attachment? I'm curious. Thanks for the ideas.

Claimed listings makes your work easier in that you can get it ranked higher quicker. I normally go for those that are ranked but on page 2 or lower.

I just mention the benefits of optimizing the listing and getting them higher up the rankings.
