How many appts should I expect from 500 calls per day?

If I had a team of 5 telemarketers making 500 calls total per day, how many web design/seo appts should I expect?

    I would say there are a lot of variables that would affect it. Exactly what you are offering, what your prices are, the economic conditions of your local economy, the scripts that they are using -- lots and lots of things.

    What I would recommend is to do a smaller-scale experiment with a lower volume of calls (preferably done by you so you get all of the responses firsthand) and get your offers and scripts refined. This will give you real data. THEN you will be able to say -- "I was getting a 3% return, so if the hired guns do 500 calls at a 2% return, I should get 10 calls" or something like that.

    I am not trying to be difficult but that is impossible to answer without knowing the pitch or even the skill level of the Telemarketers in question.

    Bad question. Stop looking at prospects as mere statistics. They're people. Real people. Like you, like me. If your 5 callers are rubbish, 500 calls a day will still equate to a big fat zero in terms of returns.

      Your right.

      My reps make an appointment every 2-3 hours for seo or web design. Which is about 100 dials.

      I know reps that make 10 dials and get an appointment just because they are so personable and dynamic with their calls.

      If you have overseas callers that might change to an appointment every 4-6 hours.

      Hopefully your callers aren't making 100 dials per day each and working all day or even more than 4 hours, because if that is the case they are inefficient and unproductive.

      This is all assuming manual dialing. We use a dialer most of the time but honestly it doesn't have a HUGE effect I mean a little but not like half the time.

    MaxwellB that fits in with what an overseas mob quoted...it was something like average stats of 400 calls per shift for the appointment setter....and I'm sure it was something like 1 appointment set that they were providing as their average stat.

    Whereas individuals here have posted stats more like a 1 in a 100 dials....

    For surveys I'm lead to believe that it's about 10:1 compared with appointments, so maybe 10 surveys or "can I send you some info / free service" type of hit rate - would you agree or differ?

      No I'd say that's about right...I'd say in 25 calls your probably talking to 5-7 decision makers...so about 2-4 decision makers per 10 dials...25-50% agreement rate sounds right I suppose.

      I've never done any of these types of campaigns but I had one prospect who was doing free samples campaigns of gum to dentists and they got like 20 per hour, the secretary can give the yes on that though.

    1/100 is normal. You know what's funny? It's pretty much the same whether you ask for the appointment, or ask for the sale. Of course there are many things that depends on.

      I wouldn't have 5 reps do it, because 500 calls is enough for 1 rep... Let them get into the groove, and get better. The first 100 calls are basically a warm up and the averages don't remain the same in the beginning.

      I'd be careful, if I were you. Because 5 reps, you COULD get very busy which would be a great thing but until you do get busy you can't prepare for what's ahead and it takes a while to get a great system down so you can deliver results AND not go completely insane.

      It depends on the reps... are they foreign? If so, don't go for the sale. Are they running out of your office or your supervision? Then go for the sale. Have you trained them? I'd really have to recommend you TRY to make a couple hundred calls, just so you can relate to them. If you can't do something, it's hard to be able to encourage others that are doing it, and helping them get passed any road blocks.

        They are U.S. based telemarketers, I would be shelling out some cash but I want better quality phone presence.

        They would work out of their own home office but im in the process of renting a 500sqft office

    Is cold calling still a viable lead generation method? I know in Canada we have a Do Not Call list...if I were to call someone that has their number on this list there could be repercussions, but i'm not sure to what severity.
