Telemarkers and payment info liabilities?
A question for anyone that hires telemarkers that are not in-house - do you let them take payment info over the phone (credit card info), and how do you minimize any liabilities related to it?
I was thinking of adding a telemarketer (U.S. based) to help add some additional call volume to the calling I do myself. I am just trying to work out the procedure they will follow once someone is ready to buy over the phone. I originally thought I would just have the telemarketer send an invoice through email, but I think that is too indirect and will leave many possible sales on the table. On the other hand, it worries me a little to have someone taking a bunch of credit card numbers over the phone. Maybe I'm worrying too much about it, I don't know.
Any experiences with this? How would you set up the process?
