How do I help a guys local biz grow, someone else is doing his website

Hi all,
There's a guy in town, has a small bounce house rental business and a crappy website - he paid a 'friend' $400 to do for him, anyway, he wants to give the friend a chance to finish the website but would like me to help him get customers in the mean time.
What things can I do to help him? I'm thinking Facebook page.... what else? I've never done a local business before. I run several of my own affiliate websites but would love to do this.... wish I could get ahold of his website now!

thanks,
C

I'd get a keyword rich domain for a term that locals actually search for (like bouncehouserentalyourcity.com); this can be a great strategy since there's often little to no competiton and a decent stream of traffic available, which you guys may snatch with little effort.

If you don't know what to do then you probably shouldn't be doing it. At least not charging until you know what your doing. A Facebook page won't help much unless you know how to get a lot of local fans and capture email addresses. Start doing some keyword research and see what kind of traffic he can get.

I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't, and die to find out there is.

Does he have a clearly stated USP? Has he created relationships with party rental companies, party planners, and other complementary businesses? Does he have a database that he can market to? Has he determined who his target market is and the best way to reach them offline?

Make sure he has local business listings on Google Maps, Yahoo local, etc.. Fill them up with product pics and video. Youtube movies show up well in search results too if the movie title is geo-targeted (eg. "bounce house rental in [CITY]").

    Hey Kitty,

Do you mean those bouncy blow up houses that he rents out for special events, private birthday parties, etc.?

If it is, I have some great ideas on how to promote this business very cheaply, but HUGELY effective.

Let me know if this is what you're talking about!

    Cheers,

    JMB
