Quick Question About Link-Building & The Choice of URLs
This may be an easy question for your gurus to answer, but I'm brand spanking to new to link building.
My question is simple...does it matter what URL is used to link back to once the same domain is used?
For instance, is domain.com the same as domain.com/keyword-one and/or domain.com/keyword-two as far as building links to your domain and the keywords you're targeting and the search engines are concerned?
I realize that each page on a website should be targeted for no more than 2 to 3 keywords, so with that being said, to me you'd have to use different URLs for each keyword you're targeting to maximize the ranking for those keywords on the same domain I could be targeting "General Services" for the main domain, aka domain.com and for another page on that domain, I could be targeting "specific service number 1" on one page and "specific service number 2" on another page.
If I understand it correctly, I should use the URL that "specific service number 2" is on rather than the root domain that is targeting "General Service."
Do I have that right? Does my question even make sense?
If not, please steer me the right direction.
Thanks a lot.
