Hi to all,

just have one big issue with Google Places. We created 2 Google Places listings like one for Vision care and one for Dental care.
However, after verification process those 2 listings in google were merged into one. Any ideas what to do in such situation?
Any recommendations?

Thanks!

regards
Maksym

Are they really for the same business entity?

If it's the same business at the same address with the same phone number, you can only have one listing "technically" (without getting all black-hat and stuff, or for a few exceptions).

Use categories to individualize the services.

^^this^^ the same address and Phone # are probably what is causing it

This is the correct answer. Google Places addresses need to be unique and refer to different businesses. One should be suite A or 1 or 101 or whatever you decide on, the other should be B or 2 or 201.

Thanks a lot for your help and assistance!
As I mentioned, we did places 2 different phone numbers.
As about address, one has like XXXXX St.
and second one has like XXXXX St., Lower Level.

Also, question is coming - what to do now in such situation? Do we need to report to Google or edit those listings somehow?

I am also very suprised about this issue, cause never seen such situation in my history.

    Thanks

Not good enough. You can't just say "lower level," they have to be different addresses, like this:

      Awesome Salon and Beauty
      123 Any Street, Suite A
      Anytown, Austria 5ARO80T
      +44 8990-9876

      Crownz n More Dentist
      123 Any Street, Suite B
      Anytown, Austria 5ARO80T
      +44 8990-3210

Create just one new listing for the one that's not created yet, and edit the other one to reflect the proper suite.

Make sure the way the sites are in the owners places accounts are correct and just follow the links from the places accounts to report the discrepancies.
You may have to change lower level and upper level to suites A and B and re verify.

When you use the links from within your places account to the complaint form you are likely to get a form email saying its been corrected. When you find out it really hasn't been corrected reply to the email explaining what is still wrong and they will fix it.

If this doesn't work I would find about 3 people for each site to report wrong info:i.e. not dentist- its an optometrist.

Yeah you'll have to give each floor an individual address. If both places are still showing up individually in your dashboard change the addresses there and re-verify. In the meantime while you are waiting for your verification through run a search for your existing citations (sign up for the trial version of getmelisted.net) and amend them all to exactly correspond with "Vision Care, Suite A". Then do the same for "Dental Care, Suite B" and hopefully that will be enough data pointing at each individual premises to prevent them from merging again.

p.s. be prepared for a bit of a battle and be patient, these G.P. issues often have a knack of being an awful pain in the ass!

    • You can't put something descriptive like lower level on the top address line.
You do need to figure out something to make these addresses unique.

But regarding the merge, there is nothing you can do that will fix this.
You need Google to unmerge them. Here's the best way to get help:

Use Google's Fix a Problem Troubleshooter (Be sure be logged into the same account your Place page is in)

      Click link: http://support.google.com/places/bin...120&page=ts.cs
Select: I have verified - Yes >> I have used report a problem - Yes >> Select top option - Listing data >>
THEN CLICK LINK bottom of page that says "use this form to specify correct business info"

List anything that's incorrect on the merged listing. Google will see this is a merge and try to unmerge them.

OR you could use the same path as above but select listing is missing instead, so you don't have to input
all the incorrect data fields and support should still be able to tell there is a merge going on.

Google will typically get back to you within a week or so but it can take up to 6 weeks to get listings unmerged.
