Looking for backlinks advice

Hi All,

I've been missing in action of the WF for the last few weeks because I've been busy creating a new local magazine website. I'm using the "Build it and they will come" model....which basically means that after I build the site and get it ranked, local business owners will be falling all over themselves wanting to advertise on it.

Ok...maybe that's a bit ambitious but wouldn't it be cool if it actually happend?

Anyway, the niche for the site is weddings and will contain local wedding articles, tips, and vendor reviews. It will also have a local wedding vendor directory.

I currently have a few articles on the site now and will be contacting local wedding experts for articles and videos in exchange for a few months of advertising. But I want to start getting it ranked so I'm looking for some backlinking advice.

There are a bunch of Fiverr backlinking gigs but I'm not sure if it's best to find one that offers less banklinks than others. For instance, there's one that offers 120 backlinks and one that offer 500 backlinks. With the new Google Penguin update, is it better to get the 120 backlinks once every few weeks or even once a month? Or is it better to order the higher number of backlinks and get it over with instead?

Also, since the site will be dealing with all aspects of weddings, should I try to buy backlinks for different keywords such as "Pittsburgh wedding photographers", "Pittsburgh wedding cakes", "Pittsburgh wedding dresses", etc.? Or should I just use the keyword "Pittsburgh wedding"?

The see what I mean, the site is at www.PittsburghBrideMagazine.com.

Thanks.

Mike

I would definitely vary the anchor text since in general, people are stupid and don't know how to search for what they actually need. I manage search data for a lot of my clients and sometimes you're left making the Oo face when you see what people search for.

In the beginning I would get someone here on the wfh section to build you a nice link pyramid. I wouldn't just go for straight links, you want a crapload of diversity and that's another reason to also target the longtail and secondary/tertiary keywords for your campaign. Many link pyramid people say you can give them unlimited keywords, so go crazy. Once it ranks you'll have a better idea of which ones to focus on.

Check out Synnd Software... How it Works | Synnd: The Content Syndication Network for automated social signals (not an aff link) and maybe Drip Feed Links - Automated Link Building Service - SEO Blasts for some automated daily links. I'd figure after about a month or three, you'd have a strong presence.

PS. Nice website. I might steal your idea locally.

Local search terms produced blended maps results, which are a pain in the arse.
You can beat them, but it can take a while.

Start thinking like a salesman, not a webmaster.

A cheap targeted adwords campaign will allow you to pitch as 'at the top of google' legitimately, cheaply and fast.

Your website looks good. Nice work! I took a stab at a wedding website a few years back. You can see how long ago it was by how dated/ugly the site is (weddings4hire.com). You're welcome to create a profile and add a link to your site. It's at least relative. You can also get a link for my Contact Squid directory that I set up to be SEO friendly.

      Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

somacorellc- Is that Drip Feed Links program a good one even with the new Penguin update? I thought Google was cracking down on automated backlink programs.

      kayetaylor- What is UAW?

I've never used Drip Feed, so I can't really say. The guy that owns it is Kung Fu Backlinks here on the WF, he could probably chime in.

I assume UAW refers to Unique Article Wizard, which is dubious at best.

Probably not a good idea to get fiverr gigs for backlinking, you don't really know where the links are coming from. There are things you can do to optimize your site to really help it rank for bridal terms in Pittsburgh that get search traffic and for long tail that might rank well on their own.
If you want to learn about seo and linkbuilding, seomoz.org is very useful for learning above board techniques. If you are serious about this site, you need to be careful how you get your links.

Think as if you're selling your website. That attracts bloggers.
