Yahoo Axis - A Bad Idea

I just heard about Axis...

I use Yahoo as my main personal email account. Noticed the first thing that was wrong was that the link to their new web browser was barely visible.

I clicked it, watched the demo and was astonished.

They are now implementing prediction search like Google, which is old news. Their twist is that it's with images, much like Pinterest, which will be short lived in my opinion.

They should have incorporated the search prediction feature (which is hardly popular with most Google users) subtly.

Now they also include this memory search feature. That's bad news. Many people are concerned with their online privacy, especially within their own households. Even if what they are searching for is innocent, people within a household like to remain private, because sadly the internet is most people's interaction with the outside world, even though they could step outside their door and see the real thing.

As a result, IMO these are major bad moves of a company that is short-sighted, comparing it to my opinion that Google doesn't care about it's search engine as a brand model, which was once a launching pad, and is now their least concern as a product...

What do you think?

I am pulling for Yahoo, don't want everything dominated by Google. Based on the video, I like it. Going to try it out when I get a chance.

I think something like this was done before... it all hinges on the algorithm. If it sucks it won't get traction. For example, I went to yahoo to search for axis browser video, it didnt come up. Went to google and got what I wanted right away.
