Using PLR Articles and Ranking Videos?

Hello I'd like to use PLR articles to beef my site up. And my main way of lead generation would be by ranking videos. Problem is, PLR articles would register as duplicated content, which google hates. So would they condemn my ranking videos for linking to my site? My keywords are local and should be very easy to rank the videos. Thoughts?

well yeah that's not a bad idea, but I still would like to populate my site with them. My concern is whether or not the plr articles will affect my videos ranking

Now the plr articles would be somewhat different on my site, only a few words though. Just enough to serve it's purpose for my local clients. Still not sure on the answer however

    Hi Grey38,

I don't know if anyone else will chime in - and I would say do what you think is best. BUT - Have you tested this out for yourself or are you just regurgitating what you've read or heard? (and I mean that in a kind way).

I'm no expert, but I have been in the SEO world for a few years and I'm not so sure I buy into the 'ol duplicate content theory.

I think Big G and their spokesman hero (rhymes with Patt Butts) like to throw out some mis-information from time to time to scare us. Or maybe they don't tell the full story.

You see, I have a technology website that is consistently ranking in the top 2-3 organic positions in all three search engines and 100% of the content is..............wait for it......

.................................................. ..............Duplicate Content. In fact there's 5 pages of it!

No, it's not a new website. And I haven't added anything to it since the day I built it. And the website is consistently growing in unique visitors every month.

So, HOW do I explain this wonderfully surprising ranking based off that kind of content? We have to go back to the 1/2 truths that I believe we are given from the almighty master of internet searches.

What do they always say? Create USEFUL content.

My non-scientific, non-broad-based, only 1 website tested duplicate content theory: I believe you can get away with duplicate content as long as it's USEFUL to the reader. Think about all those legitimate news syndication services. Do you think CNN get's dinged when they pick up a story from Rueturs or AP? I think not my friend.

When someone is looking for some very specific information (in my case it's technical information) as long as it's useful, that's all that counts.

Thanks Shockwave. I'd say that's about as close to a "Yes or no" answer as it could get. I'll go through with it and report back when results come from it. It is true I have never tested duplicated content out before, but it just seems like having two websites with the same content, the earlier site would rank above it.

Then there have been times when I wonder, 25 years from now, if there are 30 dog training sites in that niche, their articles are bound to overlap some content even if it was hand written. So your points make sense in that if it's useful it will rank. I assume the other factors will decide which site ranks above the other, when content comes down to being similar. Now I could still see duplicated content hurting, to what degree I'm not sure, but it at least can't help...? Oh well I'll try and find out.

My content will be localized so I won't have to be competing with any marketers around here using these plr articles.

Thanks for the advice it really did help.

I have 2 website in same niche but in diferrent cities, both have the exact same content except for city name reference. Both sits are ranked on page one of Google for last 2 yrs. Also, a competitor has copied all of my website content (bad bad) and added it to his own website, it's is also ranking well.
