Finding Commision Only Sales People Help? (Tips Please)

I'm really in need of some commission only sales people. I've posted ads on craigslist and got two responses back that turned into nothing. I was thinking of doing some advertising in the local paper or on college campus. How have you guys been able to find good sales people?

My second question is how does the process work with them? The sales people I've had before I knew and split the money face to face. I'm assuming that I send them a paypal link if mine to get the payment and then send a payment amount to their paypal?

Thanks

Here is what you need to do when looking for commission only... You have to be able to sell. Can you sell? People will say you don't have to, that's why you hire commission only, but they are 100% wrong. Why? Because in order to successfully get commission only reps, you need to be able to sell yourself, your business, and your product in order for them just to work on a commission only basis.

Now whether they are successful or not, is an entirely different thing.

I would also reconsider your structure... sending a paypal link isn't going to look professional.. Also... they can get someone to buy, use your service, you pay them, and hen the person issue a chargeback and you're out of luck. Leaves it wide open for scammers.

Agreed. This is a topic that has been discussed many times on this forum. Finding someone to work on a commission only basis is difficult and rare. For those that would even consider it you really would have to be able to sell yourself and convince them that it would be worth it.

I can sell! I work in sales now and I'm one of the top sales people on the floor. I won't have a problem selling my business to another sales person because I beleive in what I'm doing and the product that I want them to sell. That's the foundation of sales in my opinion because if you you don't believe in what your selling you will fail.

      @iAmNameLess:
I have learned a lot from you and respect your opinion. But, I notice that you are really quick to jump on people that seem to look for the easy whay out which I dno't have a problem with, but you can't assume everyone can't sell becaus they are asking for help to hire sales people. I personally love sales, the science of lead generation, and designing websites. My issue is that I feel that I can not hope to do all three and make the type of money I want to make. I can generate leads now, but I have people that I haven't even called yet because I'm too busy either closing a deal at work, working with one of my own clients, or design a website. I think you are too quick to judge people when it comes to sales. I'm far from lazy. I maybe get just above 3 hours a sleep a day because of all the things I have to do such as run my business, raise my son as a signle parent, and go to my day job. I'm not afriad of cold calling ...I do it for a living right now and it was the first method I usued for my business. I'm tired of working crazy hours so my goal now is to outsource so I can focus on what I like to do which is manage my business.

Thanks for your advice as always tho.

My intention wasn't to jump on you and assume that at all, I was just generalizing.

A lot of people CAN'T sell, so they want to hire people that can sell for them, but it still requires a certain level of sales to be able to do that, which people don't realize.

Sorry for generalizing my response, it wasn't aimed to rip you up or anything like that at all. My bad. I should have been more clear and better addressed your question.

An old boss of mine who is very very successful and has taught me a lot about sales, and doing business, used to hire only commission based sales people. He stopped because of the extremely high turnover rate, and because the quality was bad. He now pays a small base + commission.

What would need to happen in order for YOU to take a commission only job? When you can answer that, you'll have a better idea on how to get more to work for you.

In my opinion... and this is just my opinion... if you have a background in sales and you do it all day every day then you need to be doing sales and making sales for your business. You're right... juggling all 3 is something very difficult to do... I am constantly challenged because I have a problem giving up control so my hands are everywhere and my mind is everywhere.

You probably have more experience selling than I do to tell you the truth. The thing is, even though I'm great at developing websites, I need to focus on sales. It's easier to build a team to complete the projects than it is to build a team bringing you sales. So think about it like this.... before you even try going for commission only sales people, you need to have a team in place..

This is what I did when I started... I did everything, but couldn't do graphics, I found someone that could for very cheap. Once things developed more, I had a couple graphic artists, and a couple people helping on websites so I could generate more sales. THEN, came the project management nightmare... where my sales were sacrificed due to bad project management, so I found a platform to use that made things easier, and appointed my graphic artist to be the project lead.

Make sure you stay focused on sales, because once you hire commission only you need to STILL be doing sales yourself, and giving guidance to the commission only people.

For hiring... it depends if you have an actual location. College papers, newsletters, craigslist, linkedin, all good sources for job applicants. I manage to get about 20 resumes each time I post an ad on craigslist. Guess it depends where you're located too though.

Again, I really value an answer like this. The one thing I really enjoy about this forum is that people are so willing to show real work exp. I too a lot from that. I also did a search and found a ton of post with more answers. Thanks to everyone that gave direction on this issue. I will figure this damn thing out!
