You, My Friend, Are In Demand

Inc. Magazine says internet marketing is one of the top 5 in-demand jobs:
The 5 Hardest Jobs to Fill in 2012 | Inc.com

"I'm not talking about old-school marketing communications. Companies are looking for expert online marketers who know how to create a buzz of inbound marketing or viral traffic through the web, social media, and content discovery. Writing a good press release just doesn't cut it anymore, as everyone is looking for the savvy online marketing professional who understands how the current state of the web operates and knows how to make it work to their benefit."

Even if you don't want to work for a company (and who would blame you?), it means there are plenty of opportunities out there for someone that can bring internet marketing skills to the business world.

For sure man, companies for the most part have no clue and savvy marketers can always make an impact. Don't underestimate how much you are worth or what you are capable of.

There was actually a company on LinkedIn and other places (a pretty major company here in this area, Quadrant Homes) was advertising a job opening in their company for an Internet Marketer, doing ALL the things we can do for companies. It was perfect for someone like us, but I wasn't interested in working for only one company and having to go to the office every day. But you are right, we are in great demand.

I considered doing the same thing. Glad to know that I didn't miss a chance to get a client.

Reasons like this make me glad I'm getting a degree in IM. Granted the degree is a joke (attending Full Sail), but I'm about 4/5ths the way through and figured I might as well get the piece of paper that tells employers I know what I'm talking about. In the end Im definitely going to work for myself, but I think it would be fun to get an office job for a little while. When I graduate it should be no problem to find a job and make money on the side.

That's interesting. How does the stuff you learn on your degree course compare with the info here on the Warrior Forum? I'd find it hard to believe that it even compares.

I have not been blown away in the past with university style education.

In corporatespeak, "internet marketing" is called "demand generation" or "inbound sales".

wasn't aware you weren't allowed to work for others. That really does kill the mood of me having an office experience. Hopefully they're not all like that and I can find one to get the experience.

If you have skills an employer/client doesn't share, they'll value you because you can do what they cannot.

If an employer/client has exactly the same skills as you do, they will value you because you can do what they will not. These folks make their living by delegating, not doing.

Organizations always have room for people who can show them how they can pay for themselves and generate more revenue.

Internet Marketing is my favourite thing, has been for some time now, what, like 1998, in fact I recently went and had a look at the first site I built, in June 1998, and sure enough, it's still up.

And in 4th for its number 1 keyword. Now that's SEO, 14 years and still on the front page and it's not been updated since I did it.

    Plus;

Thee is nothing like the buzz of making a sale from almost nothing, with nothing to post, no emails to answer, or doing it whilst on the toilet. (Always makes me smile to receive a Paypal payment whilst doing a number 2)

I love Internet Marketing, and Google.
