How Do I Generate Leads Locally

For those that are running offline businesses related to SMS, website design, social media, etc. Who do you outsource lead generation to?

I've looked at Hoovers and a couple others after doing a quick Google search, but wanted to get some opinions from other Warriors.

I've been trying to work my 9-5 job as well as handle lead gen and have a family and my lead generation has been lacking. I think if I outsourced this part and could just have a list of appointments sent to me that would be best. Then I can walk in and do what I like to do and that is talk about and sell my business!

Thanks.

Manta.com is a nice tool, I mean it's free so can't go wrong. I would start with that and start making calls to the local businesses.

You can purchase lists from infofree.com inexpensively. Block out an hour per evening to research prospects and put together your list (20-30 prospects). Take your lunch early 11a-12noon or from 1p-2p and make calls and appointments. Don't forget Saturdays can be good for reaching small business owners. Or as suggested, you can outsource lead generation and pay someone to set appointment for you.

If you have so many life obligations how will you find time to go to appointments to sell?

There was a really good post on here about a year ago, from a guy who used his lunch hour to set appointments. He seemed to do pretty good, according to his post.

You are going to have to decide if you want this bad enough, to sacrifice some of your free time to build your business. I can be a bit difficult in the beginning, but the pay off can be more than good and really worth the effort.

Digichik gave you some good advice in both her opening paragraph and closing remarks. It would seem to me you have a decision to make. As for outsourcing, it works, but it takes away a certain amount of control for a person in your position. Believe me when I say, you have to maintain control.

      Good luck...

I hear you loud and clear and congratulate you for having the courage to actually reach out. Many people would rather pretend everything is OK when it's not. I also like the fact that you realize that family matters.

You can do this and let me just share some insights that you might find helpful.

    Referrals

Since you've got limited time you should consider getting others to do the marketing and selling for you to add to your own efforts. Networking, when done well works like compound interest

Referrals represent the most profitable source of new business for professionals like us. It costs much less to make a sale to a referred offline prospect, and I'd say that it costs about 400% more to close an unreferred offline prospect than a referred one - so you're also saving money in the process.

    Sources of Referrals Worth Investigating

Here are some that I use and continue to find very effective specifically for local lead generation.

    • Your causal contact networks
    • Your strong contact networks
    • Community services clubs
    • Professional associations
    • Women's business organizations

Hope this help you and because you seem to have the right mindset I know you can do it.

    Best of luck!
