Need help with a YouTube question

I am trying to secure a specific YouTube channel name for my client. When I type the youtube url with the wanted channel name it tells me that the account no longer exists - which implies that it should be available. However, when I try to create the YouTube channel I get a message saying the name is not available!

Can anyone suggest a solution or have a way of contacting YouTube so that I can lay claim to the name for my client?

Appreciate any help or direction you can give.

    The account could be banned possibly. Why don't you just create another username with your keyword in, but add a letter at the end or beginning, better than waiting for them to reply.

      The client is admanent that it must be his exact name. Additional letters and variations may have to be a fall-back position!
