Video Lead Generation "Trial by Fire"

by af7850
36 replies
From the tone of recent threads, there is quite a bit of disagreement as to whether ranked videos can generate offline leads, and whether those leads can be effectively sold on a "per call" or "per month" basis.

Is there anyone out there who would like to see the results first-hand, in real-time?

I just (today) started working the offline video leads system promoted by RyMac (and similarly by others, I understand). If there is any interest, I thought it would be fun to present this experience here for all to discuss.

Not a big fan of wasting time, so if someone says they're interested I'll post the unbiased play-by-play.

Whataya think?

Sure let's see it, I've not had a great many leads coming through ranked videos but it's a cheap enough way to steal some first page real estate.

    Thanks for the feedback!

To get started, I am not experienced in what is called "offline marketing". I have a great deal of sales experience, and also spent 4 years running a small business in the service industry. The point is that I am certainly not an IM guru.

That said, if there is any experienced folk out there who feel the need to offer advice on our little project, go right ahead. Also, this will be an interesting test; if I can get results then all of you other floundering schmucks can too, right?

(BTW that's not an insult, and I have little sympathy for whiners. If you're easily offended, this will be a very uncomfortable thread for you to experience.)

Ok then, here's where we start.

I have selected a medical field target, and ordered a short video on Fiverr which should arrive tomorrow or Tuesday. The local region that I am targeting is a rather large city (1M+ residents) with several upper class suburbs close by.

I selected two potential businesses to target, both are paying for premium yellow pages listings and adwords. Both have poor organic ranking, and sites that are less than spectacular. One of these targets has a broken link in their Adwords ad, so I know they're not converting.

Got a local number from CallFire, man it was cheap.

I hope this isn't too vague, but we don't need a bunch of shtheads screwing up our test, right?

Now it's your turn to speak... Any thoughts? I'll reply to posts, but no more updates till the video comes in.

I am trying something very similar. I have not picked out any business to target until I get to page 1. Video has been posted on Youtube now for about 48 hrs, I also have had a couple of other fiverr purchases to support the video delivered. Just checked and cannot see video anywhere as of yet, But it is still pretty early. Also, I may try something from another WSO and working with a transcript. This is my 3rd attempt, first one was flagged by Youtube as copyrighted song material, even though the seller claimed he had the rights. 2nd one was for a Canadian Business, so I wanted it to show in Google.ca, showed up on Google.com 1st page #3, but only for a day, and not anything on .ca Tried adding more backlinks, never got anywhere. This one is for an American City with a fairly large population, but not to tough of competition. May end up PM'g you AF7850, to discuss more at length. I got my virtual # from evoice, not too cheap, but I don't pay for the first 30 days, so if vid is not ranked, I pull the plug. Plus, they have Canadian local numbers, which I eventually want to go back to.

I too bought RyMac's WSO and already have 2 videos ranking, but not getting any calls. Will be interesting to see your results.

Alright, some good news... The video is done, and it looks sweet. I even spent an extra $9 on three stock images.

Also, I have an onlywire account set up, so no need to wait for that.

My intention here is to go after a rather highly desired keyword and a more long tail "sniper" keyword. Because of this, I'll expect to throw the whole bag of tricks at this, but we'll stagger the launch of each "tool" so we can see the impact of every additional layer of off-page work.

Tonight I'll buy the domain for a lead website, post the video and order a senuke.

Keep the comments coming, I'll keep you posted.

No problem, glad to help, I think I picked that site up from someone else in WF anyway. Now if I can only rank a video.

I appreciate the tip. I'll remember this for next time.

Seriously though guys, don't let these trivial little things slow you down.

I actually paid $15 into the account, so I still have a $6 balance. And I got the best deal in town... Can you guess why I feel this way?

Because I found the site, registered, paid and got the images in less than ten minutes. Looking for a deal to save $10, if it took another 10 minutes, isn't with my time!

I'm a real cheap bastrd my friends, but I'd rather be making a buck than chasing a nickel.

Not much to share at this stage. Both videos are for services. I did not use a phone tracking service because they are $10 per number here in Australia. And since this was just for test pursposes I did one for a friend who does not have a website and the service I advertised is a side-line that he does not advertise anywhere so when/if he gets any calls for it he will know its from the video.

The other video was a local tradesman who I have done some work for. He was not ranking for a local town so I did it as a freebie for him really just to see if the video would rank. It did

So next step is to buy a tracking number and do again for another niche and then try to sell the leads from it. I have to put it on hold for a week but will get stuck into it when I get back.

Ok, I must have been asleep at the wheel last night, or perhaps the SERP rank checking tool I found through g search was garbage...

The bad news: This morning we were not on the radar AT ALL for ANY keywords.

The good news: As of now, we're at #168 for primary keyword, and #5 for the secondary keyword. As a bonus, we're at #24 for a shortened version of the secondary keyword, which was not even directly referenced in SERP activities yet.

The backlinks are being pinged at 40 per day, so it'll be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of days.

I plan on starting the next round of Seo on Friday. Normally I would just blast through this stuff, but let's see what happens first.

Got our first call! Actually it was from a local SEO guy who works one of the big competitors in our targeted local industry. He called after hours to see which company was behind our phone number.

What do you think, should I give him a call back? I wonder if he'll be surprised that we know all about him.

Glad to see that we're visible anyways.

BTW, we're now tracking at #54, #4 and #22. More pings set to hit today.

      Hey folks

Thought I jump on this thread and share my experiences.

I have been trying to rank a video for a live entertainment niche in a Big city in UK 1M+ population.

I noticed my video on page #4 and thought this won't be hard to rank and it popped on page #1 at the bottom after about 3 hours of having some youtube views from fiverr.

Since buying senukeX gigs, video submissions gigs and social post gigs it has google danced from page #4 to number 1 (yay) flitting between the two positions....hopefully with time it will settle at number 1.

Interestingly it has brought up the rankings of my other 4 videos in the same niche/YT channel with one of the videos dancing at number 1 too.

I am using my own number and acting as a bookings manager for the client whom I created the videos for.

I will replicate this for other niches but have to find a good UK voip supplier for this.

I use a company called soho 66, cheap as anything else I've seen and you can manage multiple number on one dashboard, forwarding cost is the best I have seen, twilio also do uk numbers but haven't tried them myself yet.

Thanks massiveray I just looked into twilio but was put off by the tech side of things and the charge for receiving calls. Will definately go with soho 66 now as saw it earlier today and it didn't look bad. Shame they and the rest of the voip providers don't provide offshore virtual numbers as it would come in handy for me

Me personally DNChamp I am not doing this...but it is a great idea to say at the end of the video that this is just a dummy video then get businesses ringing you but it means twice the work as I think you would need to rank another video..this time for the client. A note of caution if say you were a plumber then the keyword you target would not be plumber+city it would be something to do with a business wanting more sales (not sure what keyword phrase you would use). I create the video as if it was my business and with the first few calls you can give them away as free leads. This should increase your closing rate when cold calling businesses

No, they are meant to be lead generating videos that deliver business to the target company.

Found something interesting in my own video ranking efforts.

My videos are ranking really well (or so I thought) on Google but here is the sting in the tail.....I am only doing well on google.com which is no good as I need to be ranking well on .co.uk version of google.

So currently my videos are page 2-5 for .co.uk but they are moving ever so slowly in the right direction. I have heard someone say elsewhere on the forums that they weren't ranking in canada but were in the US. Obviously I am in the UK but not as well as I want to.

Does anyone know the reason for this quirk? I am almost tempted to start ranking videos that are posted on UK sites to try and make google UK to only pick it up but obviously they dont have the power that youtube does

Have you geo tagged your videos in YouTube?

If not go and do it immediately, you should see them pop up in .co.uk in a couple of hours.

If you already have then try sending some uk based views to the vids.

Just put your postal code in, or your address, either way it will find you. If you want to rank in a different city, just put he name of the city, seems to be good enough.

Feeling your pain nyk24, I have failed to rank for .CA, and need to because that is the default in Canada. I have also tried to rank for a city in the US, on Google.com, and have failed at that to, so I am frustrated as well.

I'll be honest, I haven't read the entire thread but I do have a couple videos ranking at the very top of Google. Here is the problem. I am not getting any calls from them! Ha. You can rank all day at the top of G but if you're not ranking for "buying keywords" so to speak, I think you might be wasting your time.

I think proper research is needed when trying to rank a local video. I would make sure that there are at least 25+ searches a month for your targeted keyword.

I have seen a couple of WSO's that don't really cover the importance of doing KW research when it comes to ranking videos. While it might be easier to rank videos in certain cases, I am focusing my efforts on building and ranking local lead generation websites.

I feel like the average "consumer" or person would be more receptive to a website than a video. Just my cents! Any questions, just ask!
