Saving money...on Craigslist?
My short story - a couple week ago, I cut down a small tree in my yard that was half dead. I took the main branches off, cut up the large sections and put it by the curb to be picked up.
The trash guys (the next day) left the tree and picked up my trash. I then remembered that you must be really specific for the trash companies and tie-up all the tree sections, or put them in receptacles in order for them to be removed.
I knew there was no way I'd do that. So, I waited. The guy who cuts lawns across the street offered to take it away for me - for $45. I then had another guy dig up the stump and he said that he could take it away for - $45.
I didn't want to spend money to have it carted away. And then I thought about Craigslist. I first, bundled up some of the smaller branches and tied them into 3 piles, I combined all the larger pieces into one big pile. I then ran an ad on Craigslist and said - "FREE wood/firewood to the 1st person w/ a truck for carting!"
The large pile and 2 of the small branch piles were gone in less than 2 hours!!
Trash day is tomorrow and the trash guys will now get the (bound) rest of the tree. AND I saved $45.
Thought I'd share with the Forum. What other ways can you guys use Craigslist to save money?
