Lease Method Legality?

Hey guys,

I have a lease site that I've been building up rankings for. Then two days ago everything blew up, haha. What happend was, a plumber called the number on the site, and found out it was his number!

So after a while, I realized from his phone calls that I monitored that he was not accepting any more residential clients. So I switched the number... then lo and behold, this guy calls the new number I forwarded, and starts talking to the new plumber.

My question is, if my lease site basically is a 'fake company' website, are there any legal issues in this?

Maybe I should put a small disclaimar on the bottom of the website 'for demonstration purposes only. this is not a real company.'?

  • Just get a callfire or call8 number and put that number on the site. Have the calls go to voicemail and then with those leads give them to local plumbers as a free lead until you are ready to rent out our site. When you are ready to rent your site call the plumbers you gave the leads too and see they are interested. If not then call their competitors.
  • Why do people keep doing this? If you forwarded people to my business and were basically eavesdropping on my calls I'd be pissed and tell the next person too. Contact businesses first and ask them if they want free leads. Don't mess with other people's businesses. You have no right to do so. I don't know if it is legal or not, I'd find out as I was trying to slap you with a lawsuit. All you need to do is get permission. I speak as a service business owner myself.

    • I always get permission first! I put myself in their shoes. I wouldn't want to get calls from I don't know where. It might seem nice to get leads for free from some random guy who is promoting something online, but tell me first. Just a moral thing to do.
  • Thanks guys!
  • Thanks guys, I guess it was a little socially dumb of me to not ask permission first. Thanks a lot!
  • Whether you get permission or not from the company, it's still illegal to record calls without their(the caller's) knowledge.
