US Warriors - Please help me with this - How does your country work?

Hi US Warriors,

Together with a partner, we are going to be offering offline business clients a service. But the service must be limited to 1 business per area. The problem is, neither one of us are from the States so we don't really know what an "area" in the States is.

Let's take for example New York. What constitutes an ares in New York? Is there a website that I can look at the different "areas" for each state in the US, with population figures maybe?

I know you have states and counties and districts? Not sure how it works, your advice will be greatly appreciated by this 3rd World Warrior :-)

Sam

  • I'm not from the states either but I think this site has some very good information: Stats about all US cities - real estate, relocation info, crime, house prices, cost of living, races, home value estimator, recent sales, income, photos, schools, maps, weather, neighborhoods, and more Especially the forum is interesting to read...

  • Sam,

The site above would be a good one to look at. I am from the US and consider an 'area' to be a city in some state.

Contact me if you need more info.

    Thanks,

    John
  • Just type into any calling list software such as the one offered at manta.com and put in a city, set broad criteria and you will get hundreds of listings with zip codes...

Although I dont suggest cold calling for selling an opportunity. At very least you generate your list from people seeking sales positions, that would be halfway permission based. Most employment sites have resume search services so you can generate your call list out of resumes from people who have expressed interest in similar positions.
  • States --> Counties-->Towns/Cities/Municipality is how we break it down. Typically: New Jersey->Bergen County->Cliffside Park would be a good example.

In New York State, there is New York City. In that city, there are 5 boroughs: Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Bronx, Staten Island.

I'll jump on skype or do a screen share for 5 minutes if you want me to break it down.

    • Actually, we don't work very well. Look at our unemployment statistics and underemployment numbers. Should tell you a lot...
