Ok so I have been reading on here for a while about guys getting gigs offline marketing to small business-- and I was like this seems to good to be true-- but I gave it a shot... needless to say I now have a small cafe/pizza place near my house who is BEGGING me to help them with their website/facebook/twitter etc.

My question is what is a good way or if anyone out there knows a good site that could help me make a quick website but that will be awesomeness, and second if anyone knows a good way to analyze their current website (which is crap wordpress plugin) and find a way to optimize it.

Basically-- no idea what the heck I am doing I have some basic php skills but nothing amazing-- just looking for a cookie cutter solution for now. Also don't know anything about SEO which is totally awesome!!!! except not but hey the hard part is done we have the client lol...

Either way I am pretty stoked me and my girlfriend are going to be working on this-- I don't even care about the money I just don't want to fail this business I want to know what I offer them will actually make them profit and make them more customers. So I can have the confidence to close more businesses.

Anyways guess I am just excited and happy/scared to death LOL. So don't give up if you just started trying to get customers just keep at it, it can happen to you!!

P.S. walked in, was like you guys have awesome cupcakes, but your website hasn't been updated in 2 years-- this led to us becoming their new internet people so hey hit up the places you actually enjoy going for starters worked for us.
#goodness #lol

Exactly how did you bring up them becoming your client?

That's awesome man! Nice job getting out there and doing it! We're kind of in the same boat. I also have sales ability (been selling on the telephone my entire life) but I'm clueless when it comes to SEO, Web Design, etc. I want to jump in SO BAD because very few are actually doing it (read the 2 posts above me) but I decided to sell other products over the phone for now.

If I can find a decent designer/SEO guy I'm going to be pounding the phone 10 hours a day for websites and SEO.

Man... talk about on the job training. You don't know design or SEO and you're booking clients!

A lot of these things can be learned pretty quickly, so I wouldn't be surprised if you pull it off.

Maybe you should outsource this one or start a JV, while you are learning. You will build good word of mouth for a job well done, and it will generate you some future business when you can handle it yourself.

    Best of luck!!

If it is just a website you need, here's what you do:

They already use Wordpress so you don't need to install it.
Download one of the many many premium restaurant themes that are available all over the Internet for a small fee.
Activate the theme and either use their existing content to fill out the site or write some simple new stuff that looks pro.
Alternatively pay somebody $10 an hour on odesk to do all of this for you.

In these early stages Wordpress is your best friend, when you start making decent money you can do some original sites etc but for now, just keep those clients coming in.

    Simples.

Would go massiveray's direction with a good or unique theme. Make sure to work with the client to get an idea for what they like. Sounds like youve done a good job so far and they trust you, deliver the goodies!

The above posters provided some great insight. I agree with just hiring others to do the work you are not comfortable with (i.e. the web design) and then perhaps you can be in charge of the Facebook, Twitter, etc.

That is a FANTASTIC sales pitch!!! Great Job!!

If I were you, I would check out odesk and look around for some website/seo studs and then just make sure you charge the pizza place more $ than you are paying odesk.

Anyone have any good WSO's or advice on Sales Letters to send to nearby businesses via mail? Something that really grabs their attention? How to write them? PM me or let me know here. Thanks!
