Internet marketing is an exciting and fun endeavor. Even today as more and more people and companies are starting to understand the real benefits of the internet, the place is still wide open with possibilities. With great possibilities there is always a need for great focus.

Where does one start when it comes to the internet? There is CPA, product creation, offline, and the myriad of other, and sub niches mentioned only within the creative annals of your mind.

The idea and lure of working from a beach with only a WiFi connection is so strong, yet to even get to that point it takes a relentless dedication, belief in yourself, a willingness to experiment, play, and even be wrong at times. One must have grit, True Grit, gonadial fortitude, GUTS.

Not that IM is hard, and complicated, it can be, mostly due to choices, but because in many cases, if you were an employee in a past life, you are unsure. Deep in your soul the question keeps asking in a soft half laughing voice.

"Does this dream land called IM lifestyle really exist, or am I just dreaming it, as a child dreams up imaginary friends?"

The IM lifestyle exists. It is not some purple, pink, green, Technicolor fairy singing overly joyous happy songs. It really does exist, but for it to exist out here in our owned personal Real Life, it must first exist in our owned personal spirited belief life.

The IM lifestyle exists first in our ideas, our thoughts, true beliefs, actions, our Guts.

Maybe that is why the old timers of past entrepreneurial pursuits called it having Guts. They new you had to have that internal drive, belief, vision that sees the world as it will be, feel, know it from your Guts to your bones.

This dream I believe me to be, Will be, I am.

In the end my friends it is never about the new strategy, or old fangled idea adapted to a new fangled strategy. It is several simple universal questions applied to action in life that leads to success.

Do I believe I am worth it?
Am I willing to constantly learn and APPLY what I learn?
Am I willing to have the gonadial fortitude to PROVE IT?
Will I know have the grit to be my successful Real Life Dream?

Above all, will my actions say, "I have GUTS?"

To your Success

  • Whats the alternative? Working? Having enough guts to spend 50 hours per week being driven like a slave by someone else?

No. We can do our own creating thank you. No need to depend on anyone elses ability.

    Thanks for this post.

    • Your Welcome.
    • It really all boils down to that.

There aren't many who enjoy herding themselves back and forth to work every day and waste a good portion of their life stuck in a job, regardless of the profession.

Aside from playing centerfield for the Yankees, there's really nothing out there that beats the lifestyle, in terms of both earning potential and the freedom to enjoy it, that IM brings to those who stick with it long enough to start paying some dividends.

Guts, moxie or whatever else it might take, the choice is pretty clear.
    • This was the single biggest realisation I had, admittedly after I saw some success...

Why would ever, ever, ever, ever work for someone else and make an...OK living, when you can work for yourself and (if you do telemarketing reasonably well at least) make a comfortable living?
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • So true.

Almost anyone can be average, run of the mill or plain jane.

But, it definitely takes guts, intestinal fortitude aka GUTS to take the chances, risk the bacon and putting yourself out there to make this online thing work.

The toughest thing for me up until the last year or so was being consistent enough to bring my A-game on a daily basis. I learned that it almost doesn't matter if you have the world's greatest blog, products or graphics etc. if you can't do the things on a daily basis that gets people into your funnel to buy.

The difference maker is when you make a good plan and wake up everyday and embrace the courage that it takes to put that plan into action every single day.

  • Having the persistence, determination, and desire to continue building your business, regardless of the number of challenges, failures, or disappointments that cross your path takes guts. It is a lot easier to be a part of the pack... but why not separate yourself if it means doing something great for yourself?

I certainly would like to believe that I have what it takes. Your post will certainly be a good reminder and motivator.

    • It is easier being part of the pack, but not near as much fun!

  • I agree with MorpheusMirror above, but if you are not careful you can end up feeling like an employee to your clients.
My suggestion is sell services that are easy to implement and outsource and make it very clear at the outset what the benefits are so that you can manage their expectations.

    • Very true Phoenix, Clients will attempt to treat you like an employee if you are not careful. I like to be up front in the agreements THEY can be fired.
  • Thanks for the post, to able to provide for your self and family is freedom
  • I think it takes a lot of guts. For me, speaking with someone in person, let alone initiating a business proposal, causes me a great deal of apprehension. Though I improved a bit on that issue, I am still dramatically better at marketing through the written words rather than speech.

I do think I have what it takes, but I'm also aware of my weaknesses and realize that it will take me some time to improve.

    • So True!!

Maurene, I hate sales but sales is process and a science. They call it sales and marketing but it should be called Marketing, and Sales. Great marketing makes sales easy.

Hey look up Brian Tracy, great sales books.
Also Nightangale Conant's closing the deal using the Sandler institutes Sandler Submarine helped my salesmanship tremendously.

Hope that helps, but we know you have what it takes, keep your head up!
  • I think that I have the guts, yes, but I'd rather do more online so I can be more location independent. Good question though!
  • LOVED this post!!! Thanks so much Morpheus for sharing this...I think the toughest thing when starting off and continuing on with living the "IM lifestyle" is making that decision each and every day that you're doing to do whatever it takes to make it happen

    • Likewise

Like staying up all night while going fifty rounds with Murphy
  • The "IM lifestyle" is definitely achievable...but just remember it's not always 'wifi on the beach' for everyone.

Some of the best SEOs I know do it because they can play with their kids more. They get to work from home.

Everyone has a different 'IM lifestyle' dream. I spent two years working from my apartment 24/7...it was a terrible lifestyle from the outside, but I absolutely loved it.

    • Yup, the IM is all about choosing your lifestyle, something a regular 9 to 5 just doesn't let you do, that's for sure!
  • When I posted this thread I thought at first no one would respond. I can not tell you in words having newbies, and grizzled veterans respond to this post means to me. Sometimes in front of our computers we can wonder, or at least I do, does anybody else think the way I do about the internet, or is all hype and gold cars?

Thankfully there are others who get IT.

    Thanks
