Where to find Sales People

I am looking for people to sell a service for me and am wondering the best place to do so?

I will be providing sales people with a list of pre-qualified businesses, I need them to call the businesses and sell the one time service up front.

Where can I find sales people to do this for me?

What is the best way to setup each sales person so that I can track their commissions?

    I know some post an ad on Craigslist; or in the local paper looking for B2B sales reps.

    Tracking sales: depends on how your sales process is setup.

    1. If the sales rep is collecting checks directly from the client - have the sales rep send the order & payment to you, then you could log their sales as the orders come in. How you log it? Spreadsheet, or project management system or even using whatever sales tracking/accounting software you use.

    2. The sales rep could have the clients order via the web from your site (via a laptop or iPad, for example) - using the sales reps "affiliate" link to track the sale. You will receive money directly - sale will track to rep.

    I'm sure there are other ways, those just seem to be the most obvious.

    Thanks for your help tknoppe. I was thinking of creating a sales page with a buy now button specific to the sales person and tracking it that way.

    Not sure if that does what I want, but I like your ideas as well.

    Yep, that would work. Each sales person would essentially sign up as your "affiliate", this would give them a link unique to them that tracks the sales. Then each sales person would have their own sales page, so if they're out making a sales call, and the client decides to buy, they could do so via the sales person's unique sales page, with payment buttons coded with their unique tracking code.

    It depends on whether these are independent sales consultants, or employed salespeople.

    Independent means they're on their own. You give them some training material, possibly leads, and send them out into the big world to fend for themselves.
    In this case, a simple affiliate tracking script through your shopping cart will be perfect. Give each affiliate a special URL to use, and the system credits each sale made through that URL to the affiliate. At the end of the week/month you do a reconciliation to check for cancellations etc. and pay the affiliate their commission.

    Employed salespeople are a nightmare, and far beyond the scope of this post. Salespeople, if not managed properly, can sink your business faster than anyone else. If they're not reporting to you or a manager directly, and you can't physically see what they're doing, then be very weary of them.

      If your in the UK gumtree is good.
      You can also try telesales people from Philippines...some friends of mine have had decent results doing that to generate leads.
      To close sales though...maybe try local newspaper publications too?

        Yes, Craigslist and Gumtree are where you'll get the fastest response for telemarketers and salespeople in general.

        The rates will also be rock-bottom.
