This is not a success story.
Yet.

I'm about 30 cold calls in so far,

I have 1 phone appointment for tomorrow.
One interested in web design
One told me to mail them.

I've been using yellow pages + Google voice to make free calls however I've discovered a frustrating little secret.

Dentist all have their own yellow page age.

The awkward moment arises when they say, you just called us.
Unfortunately for me, google voice history isn't the easiest to search through..

So my question is:

What do you guys use to make your calls / ensure there is no duplicates ?

I'm currently giving my cell to those who are interested -
I'm in Canada however so I'm unable to get a Google number or a skype number localized.

The problem with my phone at the moment is I do not have unlimited calling until 17:00, and only 250 minutes a month.

However, I do have unlimited incoming messages, so my "system" is generate lead with google voice, then have them call me.

WRONG! It is a success story.
    Congrats on making calls!

Pre-make your call sheet and use a spreadsheet to see your duplicates.
Are you calling the USA or Canada?

    Thanks,

I've resorted to writing out the calls that way I can just scratch them out. ( Good tip! )

And I'm calling Canada. Starting with local businesses in my city.

Some local libraries have online business databases that you can search for business type, size, location etc and download the list. Here you just need your library card number to access the info, oh, it's free.

    Day two is underway -

my motto of the day is,

Head up voice loud and sell proud.

    Update:

Real estate agents are no interested in websites in this city it would seem.

      What city are you in?

Real Estate Agents are only interested in 1 thing: LEADS. If you could offer a turnkey lead generation and marketing solution to them for a flat fee, it becomes more appealing.

Personally I don't use the yellow pages for calling. I go to the local public library and use reference usa listings. They seem to yield better results for me.

    Wallz, I like your attitude.

If you want to make it you have to be aggressive and make a lot of calls. So let's start there. If you need more calling minutes, go get them. If you're broke, then sell something you don't need, have a bake sale, do whatever it takes to fund them.

Otherwise, don't let real estate agents discourage you. 80% of them are dufuses, but you'll probably need to call them all to find the 20% who actually work and make sales.

    Thanks beeswarn,

At the moment I'm putting together a marketing report with suggestions for a company, for cash.

In addition, the prospect is considering a web redesign.

    Update:

Just finished a 9 page marketing report for a local business. Just under 3 hours of work put into it.

    And you know what ?

I'm freaking PROUD OF IT !

And on top of that, I'll be able to use it as a template for other businesses. WIN ALL AROUND!

So here's what I recommend for those migrating offline.

Create something that you would want to BUY your self. Something that your PROUD of , that you would gladly put your picture on.

Well done, cold call is not easy...
It is weird that where you are real estate agents are not interested going online..here in the uk,online is how they work, actually, I'd say that most ( if not all) of their clients are from their online activities.
