where o where are the prospects?

i have been "dabbling" in offline marketing part time while still working my job for the past year with some success and some diffiduties. i have;

- sold several websites that i outsorce the creation. have a few orders on deck currently.
- did the marketing setup for a friends new business. created his logo and all of his marketing/print materials.
- attempted the "Bob Ross method" in my community but could only sell a few spots and had to refund and cancell all orders.

i dont think that this is bad for someone that just jumped into this 8 months ago. the websites have been the best money makers although the print materials seem to generate more leads.

i was going to continue along this path when my J.O.B. in a call center started to redo our scheduales and gave me a shift that does'nt fit my families needs. I pick up my daughter after school as my wife has a hour commute one way. i was working over nite (11:pm to 7:am)

i have to decide if i am going to locate a new job or am i going to go full time with this. i believe that the websites is the way to go to but i need a better lead generation system as they are only coming from refereals. good but not consistant enough to replace my income yet.

i must confess that i really dont want to look for a new just over broke (JOB.) however i will do what i have to do to support the family. this is a good business but my ability to generate and convert leads have to improve soon. i figure i have until labor day to get this up and going more consistantly.

i am not looking for the mythical majic pill as i don't believe it exist. just a few hints to find possible prospects to fill my funnel and increase my conversions. i am curntly getting. 2-4 orders a month.

Thanxs WF family!!!!

also while i'm at it i just wanted to say thanks to john Durham. if was one of his threads (make 2 grand this holiday or something like that) that got me started in this.

Well, you can start by upselling or reactivating the customers you do have/have had.

Are you cold calling? How are you putting yourself out there? As far as the Bob Ross method goes, I have just started looking into it seriously myself so I can't say, and I only have the free report...

BUT this is what I know... I had people asking me about direct mail way before I could properly explain to them why I am such an internet ninja... and until that free report, all I could do was babble and stutter around... so I'm guessing those slots would be an easy sell if you tried hard enough, and maybe gave some slots away for the first run.

Maybe not though, I don't know where you live. In any case, prospects are EVERYWHERE you just have to look for them, and get into conversations with people...

I fall into "interested" people all day long... but a bunch of those qualify themselves out at some point, if not right away....because no matter how much money I need... I don't want to deal with certain things. I had one bad experience that taught me that.

I agree with the above post regarding offering other services to your existing clients, mobile is a good starting point if they don't have mobile sites.

To get new customers though, I think you are a step ahead of many others for two reasons,

      1) you are not working your job during "normal" working hours
      2) You have call center experience

Use those two things to your advantage, cold call new prospects during office hours.

I know from personal experience that it is not easy to get going when you are working a job, have a family and trying to get your own business off the ground, but if you stick with it and you have the support of your family, I'm sure you will make it.

By the way, recently I have had more success offering training than I have selling website services... food for thought.

      Hope this helps

      Tim
