Any need to register as a business?

Hi all, have been glued to this forum for the past week or so, and have been developing my web-design site that I'll direct clients to. Just wanted to ask those with more experience one thing:

Is there a great need to register as a business when you are just starting out with offline marketing?

No... but when you can you should. Right now you're technically a freelancer, and will continue being one until you can legit start a business. You can get a DBA for cheap, thats the first step.

Right, you just need to make sales now. If you're in the U.S. your next step, after you make some sales, is a DBA account at your bank.

Don't spend your time daydreaming about this stuff. Concentrate on giving presentations.

Thanks for the advice... I'll admit I'm daydreaming a lot right now, but I'm also putting work into the site so that when I start calling/other advertising I'll have something good to show potential clients. As soon as I get home (working at university now) I'll get started on generating leads. Thank you!

Good stuff... make sure you come back here and let us know your progress and if you need any help. There are experts here in nearly every marketing technique used today, experts in different things when it comes to just running a business on an operation level. You just have to learn to sort through what the BS is and what the truth is.

Good thing for you is that you'll discover that on your own since you'll actually be DOING instead of thinking about it.
