Alcoholism is not the answer!
For those of you that did not read my thread earlier today, I shared how I experimented by taking a shot of tequila to try and take the edge off before making cold calls. I'm not a big drinker but I figured i'd try it out. I must say it did take some of the edge off but it did not cure the underlying problem (and caused some warriors to worry about my sobriety).
My problem, I DIDN'T HAVE A SOLID CALL PROCESS.
So i went back and tried to organize everything that was going on in steps, here's what I got....
Calling and speaking to receptionist
Was doing good with the opening (have been using j Kanningans "unsure method"). Receptionists were easy to get past and easily volunteered info. One thing I coulda done better was actually get more info out of them since it was fairly easyOpening with decision maker
This is were I was having my biggest issue. I was not doing the right things to get their attention. I need to find the right opening to hit them with that perks their ears and gets them ready for questioning. I need to use some info from my precall research on the business and/or a catchy line with an enticing possible value for them.Qualifying questioning
Didn't get this far today but I know it needs work, need to prepare more questions.Recommendations
Didn't this far either, but if I had I would not have been ready. I have not prepared for this step very much at all. this is one of the things that added to my anxiety. How can I be focused in the beginning when i don't even know where the conversation is going. In summary
Now that I know the process and am going to plan my steps better much of the anxiety will disappear. I tend to focus on the results sometimes too much and at other times can't see the forest from the trees, this is the root of all evil.
