nice $700 day, thanks to John Durham and Jason Kanigan

Just like to say thanks to both warrior members above. John durham for providing his script for FREE! and Jason for helping me lose the fear of cold calling (not completly) but enough to call.

using Jasons advice and Johns script i phoned less than 100 numbers, spoke to roughly 30 people and phone closed a guy on a $700 website.

i also missed out on a guy who was interested in a $1500 site, but when he found out i wasnt local he bolted which sucks, but dont worry about it, i made more money today than my part time job pays me in 2 months

    Nice work!

Did you close him over the phone? or was it an appointment closing?

Call that asshat back who bolted in a few days -- he might be a buyer if you can show him some value.

Send him some specs via email, send him an EyeJot video.

Or as the guru says... he ain't yer market?

that's right... Setup a demo site on a sub-domain name. Eg potentialclientscompanyname.yourdomain.com and have it sent to him. He wouldn't resist and think of a way to make the deal sweeter.

Good job kvnkane, next time just tell em. We do business internationally and work with a diverse network of top internet development professionals from every genre, that spans across the globe. Doing doing all sales and administration from a central location, as opposed to having local, staffed offices in every individual community helps us to deliver the most value at the lowest cost possible for our customers.

Awesome my friend. I must say we are very lucky to have guys like John and Jason on here to mentor us. I have been successful in the face to face sales sector, but giving the means and confidence to cold call and land and develop clients is not my strong suit. So, I am with you and hope you land 10 more this week.

    That's awesome kvnkane,

Which script of Johns are you using, there is a good in his free telemarketing report that looks pretty solid...is it that one?

I would also love to know what you read of Jason's that helped breach the cold calling nerves.

I am working towards this model as well.

Thanks for the kind replies everyone. Yes john il try that next time if not as jason said, il qualify him out. Il have to be brief im on my mobile here. I closed him on the phone. Used the script john gave in his free telemarketing report and to get over the nerves i used jason kanigans recorded wso. I know it sounds cliched, but serious to everyone who says they havent got the confidence to do this, if i can do it so can you. All i have here is a script. A yellow pages that is possibly a year put of date and my mobile phone. I hve no sales experience, im just bein polite an greeting people. The best part was i only called from 11am till 1:30pm. Hardly breaking my back. Off to phone again. Hopefully i will get lucky again.

Here's how to prevent the second day slumps.

Many times after we have a great victory and call it a day, we walk away with that victorious feeling, and the next day all we remember is the victory from the day before, and we forget the no's and the dials and the hard work and sense of hopeful anticipation we had all the way to it.

We only remember the victory feeling, and so when we start our next session, if it doesnt come easily right away it can feel discouraging and you may feel jinxed or something, when going back the next day to the starting from zero again energy.

If that is the case and you get that feeling, you arent jinxed, it just takes that hundred dials or whatever, and yesterday you happened to pop one at dial number 30, today it could be number 10 or it could be #99 but you will get it if you fight the same way you did yesterday (fight isnt a good word really, but you get it).

Dont do that fall into the mental trap of only remembering the vicotry. Remember the battle from the day before, as well as the victory, and be prepared to fight again the same way with the same feelings, same mindset and strategy, with the same expectations for now.... That will increase your chances of repeating the success today.

        Hope this helps.

        -JD

This is the ultimate test. This is the true definition of WHY ALMOST ALL OFFLINE BUSINESS OWNERS FAIL. The small fraction of people on here that ARE successful have gotten over this.

Don't stop dialing no matter what. Always "make quota" for the day. THEN go design that website you sold yesterday. Being self employed can be hard for many people for this very reason. They are not disciplined enough to MAKE themselves work. Be in the minority here bud. Rooting for ya.

So well said Abbot...it's all about perseverance..you're going to have good days and bad days. Everybody goes through this..just keep focused on your end goal--keep that discipline in tack!!

Congrats again to the OP on taking action..that's the first step and realizing that there is a demand out there..and people will pay you for this stuff!!!

In the beginning the rude ones were hard to deal with, now they make me laugh. It's just something you have to get used to. But remember it's not you, it's them. If you're nice and polite they are the ones with the problem.

You'll eventually realize these people are the ones with attitude problems. Nothing you can do about them.

I had a lady who was a real b*tch at the door; she sent a card back to get info on life insurance. Told me my license could have been faked and gave me a real hard time.

Found out after I built value and put her at ease, she was taking care of her 80-something mother who had dementia. Super stressed out.

She's still on the books after a year of coverage; but point is these people probably have marriage problems, kid problems, fill-in-the-blank problems, and there's highly likely NOTHING you're gonna do or say that will change their attitude.

So, in brief. Just hang up. Don't let their miserable lives ruin yours.

service businesses, builders, plumbers and roofers.

some bad news though, this client has just pulled out and wants a refund, because they want to go with someone local, which is highly dissapointing, seeing as their giving him a 1 page brochure style website with no seo.

so im back to square one, ive been on the phones again today though, got two interesting people who want me to call back next week, one is on holidays but was very interested in a $1255 (weird price because different currency) and one interested in a $600 website. so far i made a sale, but its going to be refunded but getting out there and calling is becoming easier which is good. next week i need to ramp up the number of dials that i made. made around 60 today which seamed like 160+ however on counting i realised that this could be why i havent made a sale today.

Congratulations on your perseverance. It takes a lot of guts to make 60 calls, especially after getting slammed a few times.

Are you researching and qualifying your prospects before calling or just going down a list of numbers? This can definitely help your closing rate.

Give us an update on your progress.

Good job! Make sure to have a good, clear set of itinerary and to be as descriptive as possible. If you don't feel a contract is necessary, just send an email with a quote/estimate for services, and end it with something like, "How does that sound? Need to change anything?". That should protect you should anything go wrong, from either end.
It's too bad that your first client backed out like that on you, probably buyers remorse more than a local/distance thing. Eighty percent of my clients aren't even from the same state I'm in, so if you can keep GOOD and constant communication with them, it makes them feel at ease and as if you're closer than you may be to them.
A simple, "Have a great weekend" goes a long way.
Keep on chipping away. Peaks and valleys.
