Hi all,

First of all, what is the industry term for websites that follow the format citynameProfession.com ex ChicagoDentists.com?

What are the ways that you can monetize a site like this? Are there any good threads you could point me to that talk about this?

    Hi Josh.

    I usually call this the 'rent-a-site model'. You could build a small website suitable for a business to put their name and contact information, get it ranked in the search engines for their respective phrases, and rent the site to a business to generate leads for them.

    Alternatively, you could create a directory website, which would be a little more involved probably, and then rent out ad listings to businesses in your directory for a monthly fee.

      John pretty much spelled it out.

      You can rent the site to a local business once you have it ranked and filled with content.

      You could also look into using the site for local lead generation where you capture lead information and sell those leads to local businesses.

      Otherwise, and what I like to do, is create niche business directories where you sell advertising space or premium directory listings.
