PPC question - for local business

Please let me know if I should ask this in another part of the forum.

Typically I do most social media for my offline clients. I do SEO for some as well and have dabbled in PPC. One client wants to know if he can have me take over his PPC so he can have just one company and not two.
What I don't know is how to track when a phone call comes in from a PPC ad or landing page and how many calls came in.
I can see what web traffic came in, but not phone calls and that's something that he has in place right now.

I assume if he leaves the company that does his ppc - what ever scripts they've put on the website and what ever phone system they have will be taken down.

I don't want to hurt this client by taking over his PPC, so I ask you guys for insight and advice on this one.

1)how to track when a phone call comes in from a PPC ad or landing page and how many calls came in.
2) Should I "take over" managing his PPC or no, since I'm not deeply experienced with it. [I have done my own PPC, and I've done some for clients that have a small budget of 100 a month on ad spend - but this guys spends 2,000 on ads alone]

please advise

It sounds like they are using a unique call tracking number that they are using in their PPC campaigns and landing pages.

Just do a search for call tracking numbers in your favorite search engine and you will see lots of options on companies to use.

However, if you don't feel comfortable enough to do their PPC campaigns, then either don't do it or outsource it to a company that specializes in local PPC.

You can get a tracking number from CallFire.com
It starts at $3/month and $0.05 per minute.

I would just integrate my own lead capture and my own tracking number.
Simple as that. I would also create my own ads.

Adwords has its own call tracking. You'll find that they provide everything you need to manage a campaign without giving anybody else any money.

If you didn't know this then just go through the Adwords certification, it takes a few hours to go through all the material and costs $50 to get certified. If you do this then you'll be waaaay ahead of most people.
