New To Marketing.. Want to Know Difference between Online and Offline Marketing

Hello there fellow warriors,
I am pretty much new to the Internet Marketing world and am trying to gain as much knowledge as I can. I have seen a lot of people here at Warrior Forums using the word Offline Marketing or Offliners. Sorry for being naive but could someone explain to me the proper difference between online marketers and offliners and clear my confusion. That would really be pretty much helpful.

Regards,
Shiva

Offline marketing is marketing for businesses whom have a "brick and mortar" location. We offer website design, seo, ppc, and much more to local businesses to help them get traffic to their website, and generate leads and profits for their business.

I hear ya...it gets confusing cause in the end you'll actually perform some "online marketing" (such as a website, directory listings, social media) to offline businesses. But you can also offer "offline marketing" like direct mail )

    Ahhh the confusion :p

      Hi Shiva,
having read most the posts from the other warriors it seems they have you covered. I have had success online and offline.
If you go the online marketing path as so many folks do I would advise that you find an area of interest first, then before you pursue it I would follow a 3 step process that I posted on my warrior blog. It has helped me stay on track.
      best of luck to you!

      Lets clear up some more.
Online marketing is all the marketing done online for a product or service.
This could be for an online business or an offline business.
Things like websites, seo, ppc, social media, etc

      Offline marketing is two fold.
      1. Its a general term thrown around speaking about a traditional type of business.
      2. Things done offline to drive traffic online.

For example like number one could be: Phonebook advertising, flyers, networking, etc.
However, you can do marketing offline for an online business as well. Like dropping flyers in a college class directing them to a CPA offer.
Offline marketing is all marketing that is done to drive traffic to a product or service using means other than the things you can do online.
However, some can be both... you may advertse in the newspaper but in doing so, they put your ad in their online edition as well.

Online marketing is a kind of marketing done while you or your product is online and on ther hand offline marketing is indirect not using direct contact. Thanks

There is another definition that I learnt this week.

True Offline Consultants are not offering web design, graphic design, soe, social media marketing etc, but offer Networking Events, Social Media Training, Coaching and Mentoring, Workshops and Consulting.

    Would you agree?

The main difference is in the medium (or the vehicle if you prefer) used to reach your target audience...

For example, with "offline" marketing, you use direct mail or a postcard to deliver your marketing message to your prospect. With "online" marketing on the other hand, you connect with your customers through the internet.

This forum is really a catch all for two schools of marketing.

    1. Internet Marketing Consultants: Basically these marketers provide internet, social, and mobile marketing to "local" small business owners(they don't need to me local to them). Basically this group takes the basic skills you can learn anywhere on this site and others and uses them to help other businesses vs promoting their own businesses and services online.

    2. Offline Marketing Specialists: These are people who focus on offline marketing such as cold calling, direct mail, radio ads, and etc.

You will find that most of the successful people here do a bit of both. They are marketing consultants and a well build campaign these days will feature multiple media.

I would say when most people come to this sub-forum they are thinking about #1 but many of the most successful threads and ideas here will open their eyes to the other side.
