Need Help Putting Together a Marketing Package for Prospect

I'm talking to a potential client at the moment, he owns a restaurant in a very populated city. First off, how I got him interested was through an email, just saying that I had created a mobile site for him (dudamobile) and wanted to show it to him, well he was very interested and loved how the site looked, I've also been talking to him about redesigning his main website, because it's severely outdated, and also I've done some research for relevant terms for his business, and there's 20,000+ people searching for his type of restaurant and he's not anywhere to be found, website or Google places, and the competition is extremely low for Adwords.

So, I was thinking of just coming up with a full blown Marketing proposal, including website redesign, mobile website, Google Places, Adwords campaign, SEO, etc. And I"m just looking for some advice on how to put this together.

This could be my first big client in terms of recurring income, I mean I don't see how I couldn't get $5k+ out of this.

Anyway, any insight would be appreciated

Thanks,

- Josh

How motivated is this client in purchasing marketing services such as SEO? I think you're taking it too fast. When I first started I lost a lot of clients this way. Never rush into offering all of your services at once, it will overwhelm him. Think of every client you receive as life long customers. Internet marketing offers so many different services that it's easy for us to get ahead of ourselves.

Get the check for the mobile website and go from there. Next step, do his website. After that tell him that he could bring in a lot more targeted local traffic to his new website with SEO. By doing this he has now purchased your services, sees that you provide consistent quality work, and has a new website he wants generate customers with.

Focus on showing him his ROI. Find out what the average customer visit to him is worth. Let's say $35.

With a properly established SMS campaign...let's say you capture 10 numbers per day. In 3 months that is 900 diners that you can reach out to. Let's pretend he runs 3 SMS promotions per month. That's 2700 texts. 96% of texts are opened and read within 10 minutes. That's 2592 customers seeing the promotion immediately. If only 5% of the people come in, that's 130 extra customers per month...$4536 in additional revenue...$54,432 annually.

After SMS is explained....online review management (a one star increase in rating can increase revenue by 10%).

After online review management, Facebook page w/ video and special offers every week.

After reading a couple of responses here, I agree that the various parts of the Internet Marketing strategy should be rolled out over a timetable.

However, I say do it! Propose it all! I do Internet marketing for a living; and can say that I needed that one first big customer to work on to get the experience I needed. If you don't propose something, you won't get the business! Just set the expectations properly with the customer that there needs to be a lead times for the various components of the strategy they go with.

Yes, providing quality work and having happy customers is how you get references; so be cautious. And remember, there are many many skills sets within the Internet Marketing industry; so you need to acknowledge that it's impossible to be an expert on them all. Take inventory on what you're capable of and then subcontract the remaining stuff you can't do to niche experts.

Shoot me a sidebar email, and I can give you some further guidance. I can't count the number the number of opportunities I give up because I didn't have others to lean on for help. Don't let this opportunity fall through the cracks.

      What's your email, Pete?

Almost everyone in this thread is telling me not to throw everything at the prospect, but I don't believe I'm doing that at all, I'm very confident in what I can provide, I've done my research on his area and am just trying to put together an all out marketing plan that will take the prospects business to heights he probably never imagined, and I don't think it's over doing it by redesigning a website, creating a mobile website, SEO, and SMS marketing, and I'm just gonna throw in Adwords as a bonus because I have access to as many vouchers as I want, so no big deal.

Anyways, any more thoughts on this are welcome, just showing you guys where I"m coming from with this.

Josh, what's missing is his budget.

You need to get that out on the table because
you then can tailor what you've got to fit in with his spend.

        You say something like this...

"Dave, because I have a number of packages to meet client expectations,
and I truly believe I can get you [insert the hot point he wants, in his words],
it only makes sense you give me a budget range to get [insert what he wants again],
        doesn't it?

This keeps his goal at centre, and he's not going to turn down
        his previously stated goal.

Thanks for the advice. Usually I can get a good feel on what my prospects budget are, but with this since all we've done is exchange emails, text and a short phone call, it's still hard to tell, and I feel as though if I can show him the benefits of every part of my proposed package, he'll pay me whatever I want to bring him those kind of results.

Here's the thing, you want to get the money...right?

Then sometimes they can surprise you with a bigger budget than
what you were going to charge.

If they say a figure smaller than what you were going to
charge, then you can still adjust it down,
            and still get the client.

In this case, you can still suggest a bigger spend
to help him achieve his stated goal...to speed up the outcome.

This is all consulting and negotiating plays here.

            Best,
            Ewen

Does this guy want/need all of this stuff, or is this the stuff you think he needs?

If you want this guy to possibly freak out, then draw up a huge proposal for a bunch of services he may not even care about...I've done that.

Just have a conversation with him. What are his goals? What does he truly NEED?

A lot of people say that these local guys "need SEO" but that's not true at all. Some people do not care about their website being ranked.

For whatever reason, for them they just do not care about it. That means that they don't need it, no matter how many Warriors say different.

Find out what he truly needs, based on his goals....then offer him those things.

Is there a benefit in adding a "budget" option for clients who are starting out?

Ok my friend a little advice from someone who actually does 90% of his marketing face to face every day.

You have gathered some info so far. Meet with him or call him again and ask more questions, as many as you can. Get as informed as you can on his needs and his wants.

People move toward pleasure and away from pain. Needs is moving away from pain, wants is moving toward pleasure.

If you find needs then focus in on those with several questions making sure you understand it fully. This will also shine a big spot light on the needs for him to remember what he needs to change (move away from the pain). This is highly important.

Mix it in with his wants and focus on the improvements of what his wants brings to him.

Once this is done the next step is give him options.

Some are correct above you don’t want to over load him, however you also do not want to miss out and leave money on the table.

Thus give him choices. Create three packages based on the info you gained.

Make sure all three choices meet his "needs"

Package A meets his needs, wants and more

Package B meets his needs and wants

    Package C meet his needs

Present all three packages to him saying based on what info I have gathered so far these are the three packages I came up with for you.

Explain each package and then let him Grade you. Say "not everyone gives me an A but not everyone gives me a C either, which would you like for your business.
