In order to create a G+local listing I would follow the same course I did to optimize and Create Google Places.
Is this correct?

Also what do you guys recommend for business who do not want to display the address because they work from home

    Unsure about G+ local only because I don't know what course you followed.
    Setting it up is pretty much the same as it was with Google Places.
    Make sure you create a G+ profile.

    There is an option inside the dashboard to select not to display address.

    Be warned if you choose not to display address it will drop you a bit in local SERPs, G is really pushing for authority / authenticity in their local searches.
