Paypal Automatic Billing for monthly site fees

Hi guys

I was just wondering if anyone here uses the Paypal 'Automatic Billing' service to charge clients for recurring monthly fees (site hosting, etc.) Im hoping this will be a gentle option for technophobes and those with security concerns.

Is it easy to cancel a clients recurring billing when the occassion arises?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks!

Thanks for the reply, I was of the understanding there was no monthly fee for the 'website payments standard' setup and that they take a % of the money you earn from the clients?

If you go with the 'website payments standard' then anyone you sign up for one of your services that has a recurring payment HAS to have a paypal account. But, if you pay the 19.99 a month, then they do NOT need a pyapal account.

So, if you go with the standard and a business owner goes to paypal to pay you...and they don't have a paypal account...they can not process the order until they create a paypal account.

So, IMO the 19.99 monthly is worth it...

        • You are probably better off using Paypal than using an obscure payment processor that not many people have heard of. Frequent online shoppers will likely be more comfortable with it.

i use paypal rebilling takes about 2.9 percent not bad.. No one has had a problem. I didn't realize there are people without paypal nowadays. the only other legitimate option I would think would be a merchant bank account but I seriously doubt it 's as affordable as paypal.

Seriously go with PayPal, it's affordable, well known and trusted, I use it and really I can't think why anyone wouldn't.

Paypal is a great service, but make sure you have a back-up merchant account. We've all heard the horror stories of Paypal holding balances and suspending accounts, it would be terrible to turn down business because your payment processor isn't in working order.

Paypal is an industry standard and most trust it. We use it for BtoC and BtoB. We set up our own Visa re-loadable Debit Card for our affiliates because we don't want them to have to pay a fee for monies they have earned with us. That might not be an option for most as you have to jump through a lot of hoops to get approved with Visa Mastercard as a card issuer.
